  • Patent number: 7365931
Abstract: A method of detecting a gap between a head and a recording medium in an information-recording/reproducing apparatus that uses the head to record and reproduce information in and from the recording medium. In the method, the gap between the head and the recording medium is alternately increased and decreased, thereby gradually reducing the gap between the head and the recording medium. A detection signal is detected from which to determine a contact between the head or a slider supporting the head and the recording medium. When it is determined that the head or the slider has contacted the recording medium, the head is stopped and moved away from the recording medium to a prescribed position, and data representing a distance the head has moved to contact the recoding medium is acquired.

  • Patent number: 7366753
Abstract: In online shopping or the like via the Internet, a user transmits information indicating a credit card number or the like from a client computer of the user to a server of a mail-order dealer. Before such information is actually transmitted, the client computer displays an object selected depending on the importance level of the information which is going to be transmitted and moves the object from a location close to an information providing agent representative of an agent for the user to a location close to a shop agent representative of an agent for the mail-order dealer. Displaying the object in such a manner makes it possible for the user to recognize that the information is going to be transmitted and recognize the importance level of the information. After completion of moving the object, the client computer actually transmits the information to the server.

  • Patent number: 7366082
Abstract: The invention provides an optical disk that enables high-speed reproduction of address signals. A wobble address system for optical disk supports various types of synchronization, such as phase synchronization, bit synchronization, word synchronization, etc., to be established easily with high detection reliability with the use of an self-orthogonal code. Thus, the invention provides a method for easily synchronizing an address signal, i.e., high-speed reproduction of the address signal. Further, by virtue of an efficient modulation system of the address signal and redundancy thereof, it becomes possible to detect address information with high reliability. This capability is particularly effective in optical recording/reproduction with a blue light source whose signal light quantity and reproduction quality are prone to reduce.

  • Patent number: 7365260
Abstract: Music piece sequence data are composed of a plurality of event data which include performance event data and user event data designed for linking a voice to progression of a music piece. A plurality of voice data files are stored in a memory separately from the music piece sequence data. In music piece reproduction, the individual event data of the music piece sequence data are sequentially read out, and a tone signal is generated in response to each readout of the performance event data. In the meantime, a voice reproduction instruction is output in response to each readout of the user event data. In accordance with the voice reproduction instruction, a voice data file is selected from among the voice data files stored in the memory, and a voice signal is generated on the basis of each read-out voice data.

  • Patent number: 7366536
Abstract: A downlink user data signal destined for a specific mobile station (4-1) is always transmitted from a single base station while a plurality of base stations (3-1, 3-2, 3-3, . . . ) being switched from one to another. A first downlink signal destined for the mobile station (4-1) is transmitted from one or a plurality of base stations through a first downlink radio channel (downlink A-DPCR). The transmission power of a second downlink radio channel (PDSCH, HS-SCCH) for transmitting a second downlink signal from the base station (3-1) to the mobile station (4-1) is provided with an offset relative to the transmission power of the first downlink radio channel from the base station (3-1) to the mobile station (4-1), thereby linking the transmission power of the second downlink radio channel with the transmission power of the first downlink radio channel. • Patent number: 7365966
Abstract: An electronic device has an operating panel. A through-hole penetrating the operating panel is provided at a part of the operating panel. A partition board includes a board part and a partition part, and a step is provided between the board part and the partition part. In an area where the through-hole and the board part of the partition board are to be formed, a metal mold can be thickened. In an area where a narrow gap on a surface side of the operating panel is to be formed, the length of the metal mold can be reduced. Therefore, the strength of the metal mold can be maintained. Also, the step of the partition board, which separates the board part and the partition part, prevents visual recognition of the through-hole by a user.

  • Patent number: 7364710
Abstract: A system for decomposing a liquid or gaseous organic compound comprises a ultraviolet decomposition unit and an intermediate product treatment apparatus. The ultraviolet decomposition unit decomposes an organic compound contained in polluted liquid or polluted gas by irradiating ultraviolet rays whose wavelength is less than 300 nm to the polluted liquid or the polluted gas containing the organic compound. An acid electrolytic water feed pipe and an alkali electrolytic water feed pipe are respectively connected to the intermediate product treatment apparatus through valves to neutralize an intermediate product, which results from decomposition of the organic compound, for decomposition by selectively adding strong alkali electrolytic water and strong acid electrolytic water to the polluted liquid or the polluted gas containing the intermediate product.
