  • Patent number: 6438316
Abstract: A line number LN is extracted from serial data corresponding to BTA S-004 standard. The line number LN is placed as LN0 and LN1 to each of a luminance signal Y and color difference signals Pr/Pb of a 4:2:2 signal. The 4:2:2 signal is converted into a 3:1:1 signal by a bandwidth-compressing means. In addition, the 3:1:1 signal is re-arranged to two-channel signals Ch0 and Ch1 with the same format at a transmission rate of 46.40625 MHz. Thereafter, the, signals are processed at the transmission rate of 46.40625. The line number LN is placed as LN0 and LN1 at the beginning of one horizontal interval.

  • Publication number: 20020105487
Abstract: A luminance control circuit has luminance change characteristics similar to those of a conventional lamp when a light emitting diode is used as a light source. The luminance control circuit adjusts the value of a forward current flowing in the light emitting diode in accordance with a control voltage which is obtained by smoothing a light adjustment pulse signal from an illuminance control circuit. The circuit has: a pulse adjustor for adjusting a duty factor of the light adjustment pulse signal according to characteristics of the light emitting diode; holding circuit for holding the control voltage to a predetermined value or more; and a switch for interrupting the forward current flowing in the light emitting diode by using the light adjustment pulse signal or a pulse signal after the adjustment of the duty factor, wherein at least two of these three elements are used in combination.

  • Patent number: 6393197
Abstract: Reproducing heads reproduce signals from a tape in advance of recording heads for a time period equivalent to a system delay. An ECC decoder corrects an error of a signal received from each reproducing head. A BRR decoder decompresses and decodes the signal received from the ECC decoder. A concealing circuit interpolates the signal received from the BRR decoder. An output signal of the concealing circuit is sent back to a selector of the recording system. The selector switches between a signal received from an input terminal and the reproduced signal at the end of each field. An intra-field encoding process or an intra-frame encoding process can be selected as an compressing and encoding process. Information that represents the selected encoding process is recorded on the tape.

  • Patent number: 6229102
Abstract: A small-sized pen-shaped input apparatus precisely detects handwriting input. The apparatus compensates for the effects of the inclination of the pen-shaped input apparatus. An initial inclination angle calculating section calculates the initial value of the inclination angle of a pen shaft in a gravity coordinate system. The inclination angle variation calculating section calculates a variation value of the inclination angle of the pen shaft. A handwriting inclination angle calculating section calculates the inclination angle of the pen shaft when writing. A coordinates conversion calculating section converts the coordinate system of the acceleration from the pen shaft coordinate system to the gravity coordinate system. A movement amount calculating section calculates the movement direction and the movement distance of the pen's tip end. Finally, a handwriting detecting section detects a state of handwriting or non-handwriting.

  • Patent number: 6009227
Abstract: A signal processing method and apparatus wherein digital image data is compressed, recorded, and edited and where multiple playback/record cycles do not degrade the quality of the image. Digital image signals are compressed and recorded by a digital VTR. The recorded signals are then played back and the resulting signal is decompressed along one data path or inserted into a standard video interface format signal along a second data path. The compressed image signal in the standard video format may then be edited as if it were a standard video signal. The compressed video signal is then extracted from the standard interface signal and rerecorded. The compressed signal can be edited without decompression and recompression, thus maintaining the quality of the image data.
