  • Patent number: 6781965
Abstract: A simple fast and robust echo canceller for both synchronous and asynchronous multicarrier transceiver systems. A first residual time domain echo component is separated from a receive signal in a first frame and a second residual time domain echo component is separated from a receive signal in the next consecutive frame. The first and second residual time domain echo components from consecutive frames are combined to obtain a combined residual time domain echo component. The combined residual time domain echo component is used to adaptively update coefficients in a transfer function representing an estimate of the echo channel in the multicarrier transceiver system. The separation of the echo components from the receive signal eliminates dependence on the receive signal so that convergence is substantially faster and not signal dependent. Performance of the echo canceller is virtually independent of the receive signal and allows reliable tracking of changes in the echo channel over time.

  • Publication number: 20040144087
Abstract: A filter (41) traps particulate matter in the exhaust gas of a vehicle diesel engine (1). A vehicle speed sensor (51) detects a vehicle speed, and a controller (31) determines a vehicle running pattern from the vehicle speed. In the regeneration of the filter (41) to eliminate trapped particulate matter by burning, the controller (31) controls the exhaust gas temperature of the diesel engine (1) to a different target temperature according to the running pattern. As a result, there are less opportunities for regeneration of the filter (41) to be interrupted due to exhaust gas temperature drop, and regeneration of the filter (41) is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20040139733
Abstract: In regeneration apparatus and method for a particulate filter that collects a particulate in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, a timing at which an accumulated particulate is combusted to regenerate the particulate filter is determined and a control is performed for a combustion of the particulate, during the control for the combustion of the particulate, a temperature of the engine exhaust gas is raised to a first target temperature set at a temperature equal to or higher than a criterion temperature which provides a criterion of whether the particulate is combusted to regenerate the particulate filter when the engine falls in a first driving region, and the engine exhaust gas temperature is raised to a second target temperature set at a temperature lower than the criterion temperature when the engine falls in a second driving region different from the first driving region.

  • Publication number: 20040123590
Abstract: A NOx catalyst (10) traps nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine (40), and particulate matter is trapped by a filter (41). The sulfur poisoning of the NOx catalyst (10) is eliminated using exhaust gas corresponding to a rich air-fuel ratio. The exhaust gas composition is changed over to a lean air-fuel ratio according to an increase of a particulate matter collection amount during the elimination of sulfur poisoning so that the particulate matter collection amount in the filter (41) does not increase. As a result, when the particulate matter collection amount decreases due to combustion of collected particulate matter, elimination of sulfur poisoning again proceeds using exhaust gas corresponding to a rich air-fuel ratio.

  • Publication number: 20040123741
Abstract: A particulate filter regenerating device is configured to regenerate a particulate filter that collects particulate from engine exhaust gas. The particulate filter regenerating device is configured to prevent the temperature of the particulate filter from exceeding an allowable temperature during regeneration when the quantity of accumulated particulate is estimated to be lower than it actually is due to variation of the estimate. When the amount of temperature rise per unit time of the particulate filter is larger than a prescribed value during regeneration, it is determined that the temperature of the particulate filter will soon exceed the allowable temperature and the temperature rise amount &Dgr;Texh of the exhaust gas is reduced (&Dgr;Texh1 is the normal temperature rise amount). The larger the temperature rise per unit time is, the more the temperature rise amount of the exhaust gas is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20040118110
Abstract: A particulate filter regenerating device is configured to prevent the uneven distribution of particulate matter that results from interruption of the regeneration process and protect the particulate filter. The frequency with which regeneration is executed is increased by determining that it is time to regenerate the particulate filter at a time t1 when the exhaust gas temperature Texhin has reached or exceeded a prescribed temperature Texh1. Additionally, particulate filter regenerating device determines that it is time to regenerate the particulate filter when the quantity of accumulated particulate matter reaches or exceeds a prescribed value PM1. The particulate filter is regenerated by raising the temperature of the exhaust gas and combusting the accumulated particulate matter.
