  • Patent number: 9031000
Abstract: A transmitting side UE1 and a receiving side UE2 are both connected to a given E-Node B. The transmitting side UE1 divides a transmission packet addressed to UE2 into a first packet to be transmitted via a route not passing through a given access gateway and a second packet to be transmitted via a route passing through the given access gateway, and the packets are transmitted to the given E-Node B. The E-Node B transmits the first packet to UE2 and also transmits the second packet to the access gateway. The access gateway receives the second packet and transmits it to the E-Node B. The E-Node B receives the second packet transmitted from the access gateway and transmits it to UE2. UE2 receives the first packet and the second packet and synthesizes them to restore the initial packet.

  • Patent number: 8964694
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique to enable a session handover between devices with different key generation functions in an authentication protocol. According to the technique, when a session where a UE (200) receives contents from a contents server (700) is to be handed over to a target node (300), the UE firstly transfers information (session HO information) necessary to the session handover to the target node (Step S1001). The target node performs authentication processing with an authentication server (600) of the network to which the UE is connected and notifies the authentication server of the session HO information transferred from the UE (Step S1003). The authentication server performs authentication for the session handover based on the session HO information, and when the authentication succeeds, the session is handed over from the contents server to the target node, and the contents are distributed to the target node (Step S1005).

  • Patent number: 8792453
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, mobile node and computer-readable medium for establishing (or pre-establishing) a secure tunnel to an ePDG to prepare for a mobile node attachment or handover to another access network. To reduce the delay of a handover or upon attachment of a mobile node to an access network implied by mechanisms to discover a ePDG, the mobile node maintains a reachability list that can be consulted to identify an ePDG or ePDGs that are reachable in the target access network, i.e. to which the mobile node may establish a secure tunnel. If the mobile node can identify a reachable ePDG for a given access network from the reachability list, the mobile node (pre-)establishes a secure tunnel to the ePDG upon attaching to the given access network. In alternative solutions DNS, DHCP or other mechanism can be used to provide the mobile node with information on ePDGs in its vicinity.

  • Patent number: 8781474
Abstract: A method for a handover of a mobile node from a non-3GPP to a 3GPP network, and of a mobile node, which is located in a non-3GPP/3GPP network. The handover is improved by discovering an appropriate MME and registering the mobile node at the discovered mobility management entity (MME), in advance. This includes to first determine the location of the mobile node in the non-3GPP network, so as to be able to detect an MME in the vicinity of the mobile node's location. The 3GPP contexts are then transmitted to the new MME before the handover is performed. Moreover, the Serving-Gateway in the 3GPP network is changed before performing a handover, thereby accelerating the handover. When a handover gets likely, the mobile node's location is determined and a new Serving-Gateway is selected. The data path is changed to go via the new Serving-Gateway.

  • Publication number: 20140177650
Abstract: A radio receiver apparatus that can effectively utilize GI to improve the reception quality. In this apparatus, a data extracting part extracts a data portion of a direct wave from a signal subjected to a radio reception process by a received RF part. A GI extracting part extracts, from the signal subjected to the radio reception process by the received RF part, GI having a length determined by an extracted GI length deciding part. The extracted GI is adjusted by a data position adjusting part such that its rear end coincides with the read end of the extracted data portion. A combining part combines the extracted data portion with the GI the data position of which has been adjusted. The combined signal is then supplied to a frequency axis equalizing part, which equalizes the signal distortions of the combined signal on the frequency axis.

  • Patent number: 8688970
Abstract: The invention provides a method for trust relationship detection between a core and access network for a user equipment. The gist is that a security tunnel establishment procedure is used so one entity, be it part of the core network or be it the user equipment itself, is provided with information to determine whether the access network is trusted or untrusted. The information may comprise a first IP address/prefix, which is initially assigned to the user equipment, upon attaching to the access network. The necessary information may further comprise a second IP address/prefix, which is an address/prefix that is allocated at a trusted entity of the core network. Depending which entity determines the trust relationship of the access network, it might be necessary to transmit either the first IP address/prefix or the second IP address/prefix or the first and the second IP address/prefix using the security tunnel establishment procedure.

  • Patent number: 8666414
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for reducing delay when a mobile communication terminal starts communication and reducing consumption of a power resource of the mobile communication terminal. An MN (mobile node) (1012) has plural interfaces (IF-1 (1030) and IF-2 (1028)). One interface IF-1 is connected to a connection point (serving PoA (1008)). When switching over from communication using the IF-1 to communication using the IF-2, the MN transmits a paging request message via the IF-1 and the serving PoA to a connection point (target PoA (1010)) attempted to connect using the IF-2. The target PoA that has received the paging request message reduces a beacon transmission cycle and sets transmission slots for the MN so that the connection of the MN can be established efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20130322311
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for discovering a home agent serving a mobile node upon the mobile node changing its mobility management scheme in a packet-switched network and the implementation of such method in a mobile node or home agent. In order to propose a home agent discover scheme that maintains session continuity in a seamless manner upon a mobile node changing its mobility management scheme, a mobile node comprises information on its location prior to changing the mobility management scheme to one of the first signaling messages transmitted upon changing the mobility management scheme (home agent discovery message). The receiving node uses this information to identify the home agent serving the mobile node or to provide a hint to the home agent where the mobile node is registered in a response message to the mobile node.

  • Patent number: 8599699
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique of efficiently collecting communication quality information with excellent responsiveness in wireless resource management. According to the technique, a RRM 110 distributes measurement content information showing measurement contents for recognizing a wireless communication status to each AP 230, and each AP stores the measurement content information. For example, to recognize a wireless resource use status of an AP, the RRM transmits trigger transmission instruction information to an eNB 150, as a result of which trigger information is transmitted throughout a communication area of the eNB. A UE 301 that has received the trigger information acquires the measurement content information from an AP (for example, AP_a 230a) to which it is connected, and performs a measurement process and reports a measurement result to the RRM via the eNB based on the measurement content information.

  • Patent number: 8467723
Abstract: A mobile communication system includes a plurality of RAT (Radio Access Technology) and can eliminate the need of a control channel for reporting RAT information. An LTE relay station has a cover area identical to a cover area owned by a WLAN host station and relays/transmits the signal received from an LTE base station to a mobile station in the cover area of the LTE relay station. The LTE relay station adds to the signal received from the LTE base station, one of the offsets: a frequency offset, a time offset, and a power offset as information indicating that the mobile station which receives a relay signal from the local station is located in the cover area of WLAN and transmits the signal after offset addition to the mobile station located in the cover area of the LTE relay station (i.e., the cover area of WLAN).
