  • Publication number: 20110026435
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for discovering a home agent serving a mobile node upon the mobile node changing its mobility management scheme in a packet-switched network and the implementation of such method in a mobile node or home agent. In order to propose a home agent discover scheme that maintains session continuity in a seamless manner upon a mobile node changing its mobility management scheme, a mobile node comprises information on its location prior to changing the mobility management scheme to one of the first signaling messages transmitted upon changing the mobility management scheme (home agent discovery message). The receiving node uses this information to identify the home agent serving the mobile node or to provide a hint to the home agent where the mobile node is registered in a response message to the mobile node. This approach may also be used for path optimization when a mobile node moves from a trusted to an un-trusted access network.

  • Publication number: 20110002248
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique to enable a mobile terminal to grasp an address handling method used for each service and hence to achieve more efficient communication. According to this technique, a mobile terminal (UE) 15 inquires a home PMIPv6 domain 10 about a method of handling each address currently maintained by the mobile terminal (e.g., which address should be used as an MIPv6 home address (HoA)) in a state of being attached to the home PMIPv6 domain 10 before starting MIPv6 as a mobile management protocol, and acquires and stores the inquiry result in advance. Then, for example, when moving to a foreign network 20 and starting MIPv6, the stored inquiry result is referred to select an address appropriate as an HoA in order to perform a search for a HA (Home Agent) and BU (Binding Update) transmission.

  • Publication number: 20100323700
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for a handover of a mobile node from a non-3GPP to a 3GPP network, and of a mobile node, which is located in a non-3GPP/3GPP network. The handover is improved by discovering an appropriate MME and registering the mobile node at the discovered MME, in advance. This includes to first determine the location of the mobile node in the non-3GPP network, so as to be able to detect an MME in the vicinity of the mobile node's location. The 3GPP contexts are then transmitted to the new MME before the handover is performed. Moreover, the invention teaches to change the Serving-Gateway in the 3GPP network before performing a handover, thereby accelerating the handover. When a handover gets likely, the mobile node's location is determined and a new Serving-Gateway is selected. The data path is changed to go via the new Serving-Gateway.

  • Publication number: 20100315973
Abstract: A technique disclosed enables a node having a plurality of interfaces to conduct connection of the plurality of interfaces simultaneously in a communication network domain. A mobile node having a plurality of interfaces connects one of the interfaces with a MAG (mobile access gateway) 11a to take part in a NetLMM domain 18 using a NetLMM protocol, and a LMA (local mobility anchor) 13 includes association information with the MAG 11a registered therein. When the mobile node connects another interface with another MAG 11b, the LMA receives a registration request for association information of this mobile node with the MAG 11b, and makes an inquiry to the already registered MAG 11a as to whether link with the mobile node is still valid or not. If the link is valid, the LMA keeps association information of the mobile node with both of the MAGs 11a and 11b.

  • Publication number: 20100278146
Abstract: A cell selection system is for selecting a cell to be used for communications by a mobile terminal (1) in a network having a cell of a mobile phone network and a plurality of WLAN cells included in the cell. Broadcast information including cell selection information is transmitted in the cell of the mobile phone network. This cell selection information has cell change judgment parameters whose patterns are less than the WLAN cells. The mobile terminal (1) reads the cell selection information from the broadcast information of the mobile phone network, uses broadcast information of a WLAN to determine a parameter to be used for judgment on cell selection to the WLAN cell concerned, and judges by the determined parameter whether the cell can be changed or not. A cell reselection system is provided which can restrict the amount of data in the broadcast information even with an increase in the number of WLAN cells included in the cell of the mobile phone network.

  • Publication number: 20100275020
Abstract: The invention discloses a technique, by which the number of messages can be decreased when RR (Return Routability) procedure is performed to give authentication between a mobile node (MN) and a correspondent node (CN). According to this technique, CN 3 receives a plurality of CoTi messages transmitted from each of a plurality of interfaces of MN 1, generates a signature token for each of a plurality of care-of addresses, and transmits the signature token in each of a plurality of CoT messages to MN. Then, MN generates a common key for a plurality of care-of addresses by using each signature token of said plurality of CoT messages, generates a common authentication code for said plurality of care-of addresses by using said common key, transmits a bulk binding update message containing said plurality of care-of addresses and the common authentication code to CN. CN authenticates the common authentication code for said plurality of care-of addresses in the bulk binding update message.

  • Publication number: 20100271966
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique of efficiently collecting communication quality information with excellent responsiveness in wireless resource management. According to the technique, a RRM 110 distributes measurement content information showing measurement contents for recognizing a wireless communication status to each AP 230, and each AP stores the measurement content information. For example, to recognize a wireless resource use status of an AP, the RRM transmits trigger transmission instruction information to an eNB 150, as a result of which trigger information is transmitted throughout a communication area of the eNB. A UE 301 that has received the trigger information acquires the measurement content information from an AP (for example, AP_a 230a) to which it is connected, and performs a measurement process and reports a measurement result to the RRM via the eNB based on the measurement content information.

  • Publication number: 20100232503
Abstract: A technique is disclosed, according to which it is possible to efficiently use network resources, to reduce the burden on a control device, and to control the communication between radio terminals by the control device when a transmitting side radio terminal and a receiving side radio terminal are connected to the same radio relay device. According to this technique, when a transmitting side UE1 and a receiving side UE2 are connected to the same E-Node B 103, the transmitting side UE1 divides a transmission packet addressed to UE2 into a first packet to be transmitted via a route not passing through ACGW 105 and a second packet to be transmitted via a route passing through ACGW 105, and the packets are transmitted to E-Node B 103. E-Node B 103 transmits the first packet to UE2 and also transmits the second packet to ACGW 105. ACGW 105 receives the second packet and transmits it to E-Node B 103. E-Node B 103 receives the second packet transmitted from ACGW 105 and transmits it to UE2.

  • Publication number: 20100214998
Abstract: A technique to optimize packet transfer in a network is disclosed. According to this technique, a mobile node (MN) 1000 having a plurality of interfaces transmits a filter rule where setting conditions are defined to each of MAG (motility access gateway) 1060 and MAG 1080 connected for the purpose of setting the packet received by each of the interfaces. MAG transfers the received filter rule to a local mobility anchor (LMA) 1010. After analyzing the filter rule, LMA specifies the network node where the filter rule should be reflected and updates the filter rule only to this specific network node. For instance, in case MN desires that a packet from CN 1090 is received via a path 1002, LMA manages that a packet destined to MN as transmitted from CN is to be transferred to MAG 1060 with respect to MAG 1020.

  • Publication number: 20100208663
Abstract: The invention discloses a technique to efficiently realize a routing based on preference of a mobile terminal in case the mobile terminal is connected to a mobility management domain of network base different from a home network domain. According to this technique, a mobile terminal (mobile node; MN) 101 has two interfaces, and these interfaces are connected to a mobility management domain (local mobility domain) 11 under the condition that these interfaces are connected to MAG 111 and MAG 112 respectively. In case MN itself decides one of the interfaces to be used for a specific packet flow communication, a routing preference to instruct that the packet flow is to be sent on a routing via the interface is notified to MAG. When MAG notifies the routing preference to LMA (filtering agent) 110, filtering based on the routing preference is carried out.
