Abstract: A conversion apparatus and method is disclosed by which a file including data multiplexed therein can be edited or handled readily while maintaining the compatibility. A standard/independent conversion section converts a file of a standard AV multiplex format wherein video data and audio data are placed in a multiplexed state in a body into a file of an AV independent format wherein video data or audio data are placed collectively in a body. Meanwhile, an independent/standard conversion section converts a file of the AV independent formation into a file of the standard AV multiplex format.

Abstract: A recording control apparatus for recording new data on a recording medium on which data forming an edit result is recorded for each file. The recording control apparatus includes: a specification section specifying an insert section into which the new data is inserted in the edit result; and when a part of or all of a plurality of the files are included in the insert section, a recording control section recording data out of the new data, as first additional data, corresponding to a section other than a section from a start position of the insert section to the end of a start file being a file including data of the start position into an unrecorded area in which the files are not recorded and recording data other than the first additional data, out of the new data, into a predetermined area of the recording medium.

Abstract: A passenger's weight measurement device for a vehicle seat, capable of suppressing generation of an initial load, has a pair of slide rails extending in parallel and fixed to the vehicle floor, and a pair of side frames that support the seat and are disposed above the pair of slide rails. Load cells are disposed between the pair of the slide rails and the pair of the side frames. A set of first connection frames for connecting both ends of the pair of side frames extend in parallel to be perpendicular to the pair of side frames. Second and third connecting frames connect middle parts of the pair of slide rails so as to be perpendicular to the slide rails. The pair of the slide rails and the second and a third connecting frames constitute an H-shaped frame. The load cells include an elastic member having a varied-diameter portion.

The above arrangement solves a conventional problem that it is troublesome to connect the connection terminals of wires or the like provided on a wiring harness or the like to respective terminals that are separately provided on a film-form substrate and a film-form member.

Abstract: A data accessing and reproducing apparatus and method that permits a user to selected desired video clips and perform editing on the clips such that the time needed to display a thumbnail representation is minimized. In an edit mode, thumbnail pictures are arranged and displayed in the order of which edit results are reproduced. These thumbnails may be, for example, a lower resolution, proxy representation of the audio or video data. When data of thumbnail pictures are read from a disc, the data are read in the order of which they have been recorded. The order of which thumbnail pictures are displayed on the screen is different from the order of which they are arranged on the screen, and thus, the seek time for the disc becomes the shortest. Thus, the thumbnail pictures can be displayed at high speed.

Abstract: A file generating apparatus for improving the usability of recording media and providing efficient read and write processes. A header control portion generates a header arranged at the beginning of a file. A footer control portion generates a footer arranged at the end of the file. A filler control portion generates a filler so that the data amount of a body, the header, or the footer of the file corresponds to an integral multiple of an ECC block on an optical disk by adding the filler to the body, the header, or the footer. A KLV encoder KLV-encodes a filler for the body according to the KLV structure. The present invention can be applied to a disk apparatus that records video data or audio data on optical disks.
