  • Patent number: 7609942
Abstract: A recording apparatus, a recording method, a salvage apparatus, a salvage method, and a program for reading data from a recording medium that has failed to normally end a recording process. Each of salvage markers contains a recognition pattern for recognizing a salvage marker, and identification information for identifying files to which audio data “Audio”, and video data “Video” belong. If the recording process fails to end in a normal state, the salvage markers are detected from the recognition pattern contained in the salvage markers, and the file having the audio data and the video data belonging thereto is identified by the file identification information. The present invention is applicable to a video processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7603520
Abstract: A record apparatus is disclosed. The record apparatus has a memory, a record section, and a record control section. The memory stores data in a first unit. The record section writes data to an optical disc in a second unit larger than the first unit. The record control section controls the record section, which writes data to the optical disc. The record control section reads data in the second unit from the memory, causes the record section to write data that have been read from the memory to the optical disc, closes the second unit in which the data of the optical disc have been written, and sets a write start position of the optical disc to a second unit followed by the closed second unit.

  • Patent number: 7509030
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating and editing audio and/or video data using thumbnail representations of the data. Thumbnail representations are generated in accordance with clips randomly recorded on a disc, or other storage medium, and edit points are designated for the clips. When thumbnail representations are displayed, the disc is rotated at constant angular velocity (CAV). Video data of the thumbnail representations are read from the disc. When a desired thumbnail representation is selected and designated, the disc drive system is switched from CAV drive mode to constant linear velocity (CLV) drive mode. Video are reproduced from the position of the selected thumbnail representations. Since the thumbnail representations are read in the CAV drive mode that is suitable for randomly accessing the disc, the thumbnail representations can be displayed at high speed.
