  • Patent number: 5221342
Abstract: A coloring composition comprising (i) gypsum dihydrate and (ii) at least one coloring agent selected from the group consisting of inorganic pigments, organic pigments, dyestuffs, and natural coloring matters. This coloring composition may be produced by mixing (i) gypsum having, as water of crystallization, 0 to 0.5 mole, based on one mole of the gypsum, of water, (ii) at least one coloring agent selected from the group consisting inorganic pigments, organic pigments, dyestuffs, and natural coloring matters, and (iii) water or an aqueous solvent solution, and after solidification, powdering the resultant solid mixture. The coloring composition can provide a clear color tone when formulated in, for example, cosmetics, and when completely dispersed in, for example, a cosmetic base material.

  • Patent number: 5140811
Abstract: An exhaust gas purification device for purifying exhaust gas of an engine, having an absorbent trapper absorptive of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas up to a first gas temperature such as 200.degree. C. while releasing the absorbed hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas above a second gas temperature such as 400.degree. C., and a passage system responsive to the gas temperature for conducting the exhaust gas from the engine to pass through the absorbent trapper until the gas temperature rises up to the first gas temperate, to bypass the absorbent trapper when the gas temperature exceeds the first gas temperature, and to pass through the absorbent trapper and the catalytic converter in this order when the gas temperature exceeds the second gas temperature.

  • Patent number: 4985210
Abstract: An exhaust gas purifying apparatus employing a 3-way catalyst has either a Y-type zeolite or a mordenite as an adsorbent for adsorbing a harmful component in exhaust gas which is disposed at the upstream side of the catalytic converter so that, when the exhaust gas temeprature is not higher than a specific temperature, a harmful component is adsorbed by means of the adsorbent, whereas, when the exhaust gas temperature exceeds the specific temperature, the harmful component desorbed from the adsorbent is introduced into the catalytic converter. Further, an activated carbon trapper and a by-pass are provided in parallel at the upstream side of the adsorbent so that the flow paths of exhaust gas are selectively switched from one to the other in accordance with the level of the exhaust gas temperature.

  • Patent number: 4869739
Abstract: A fuel vapor collecting device comprising an activated carbon receiving chamber filled with activated carbon particles. Each of the activated carbon particles contains heat accumulating solid fillers which are uniformly distributed therein. The heat accumulating solid fillers are made of a metallic material having a specific heat which is larger than that of the activated carbon.
