  • Publication number: 20060007487
Abstract: With the conventional art, when the time of a host computer is not correct, the incorrect time is set to a printer, a scheme for setting the more correct time is desired. The invention provides a scheme for determining the priority of the time inputted from outside a plurality of time originators, and setting the time of which the priority is determined to be higher by the determination.

  • Publication number: 20050015498
Abstract: A network apparatus which is detachable from a data processing apparatus and is mounted in the data processing apparatus to connect the data processing apparatus and a network installs an application and stores authentication information corresponding to the application in the storage of the network apparatus. The network apparatus acquires authentication information corresponding to the application from the storage of the network apparatus and the data processing apparatus in accordance with an application activation request. The network apparatus determines, on the basis of the acquired authentication information, whether to permit activation of the application.

  • Patent number: 6785012
Abstract: An information processing apparatus serves as a host unit for communicating with a plurality of printing apparatuses via a network. Each of the plurality of printing apparatuses is in a print-ready state or a second power state, in which power consumption is less than that of the print-ready state. The information processing apparatus includes a request unit adapted to request status information of each of the plurality of printing apparatuses, a reception unit adapted to receive the status information of each of the plurality of printing apparatuses requested by the request unit, an identifying unit for identifying each of the plurality of printing apparatuses as being either in the print-ready state or the second power state, based on the status information received by the reception unit, and a user interface unit adapted to control a display of a plurality of printer states.

  • Publication number: 20040090650
Abstract: A printing system includes a print control device, a network interface device, and an information processing device. The information processing device acquires configuration information of the network interface device from the network interface device connecting the print control device to a network, and generates print data representing the configuration information of the network interface device based on the acquired configuration information. The printing system thus prints out the configuration information of the network interface device.

  • Patent number: 6700677
Abstract: In a printing apparatus in which a part of the execution program is downloaded from the host computer, the invention allows the user to easily known the copyright information of the execution program and to select the use of such copyright. The host computer sends print data to the laser beam printer constituting the printing apparatus and downloads a part of the execution program. At the same time, the copyright information and the license information of the execution program are transmitted to the laser beam printer. The control unit of the laser beam printer processes the data based on the execution program, thereby recording the data on the recording sheet, and displays the copyright information and license information on the operation panel. Observing the display, the user selects whether or not to obtain the license by the operation panel.

  • Patent number: 6493101
Abstract: A system for managing programs utilizes a memory to store a variable in an individual area or a common area in accordance with a type of the variable. The memory includes a first individual area, where a variable used by only a first program is stored even when the first program is not being executed, and a common area for storing a variable temporarily needed to execute the first program. When a second program is downloaded, a second individual area of the memory is assigned to store a variable used by the downloaded second program.

  • Patent number: 6459496
Abstract: An information processing apparatus serves as a host unit for communicating to a plurality of printing apparatuses via a network. Each of the printing apparatuses includes internal components that are set in a sleep state when power supply to the components is reduced or in a print-ready state when power is supplied to the components. The information processing apparatus includes a unit for requesting status information of each of the plurality of printing apparatuses via the network, a unit for receiving the requested status information from each of the plurality of printing apparatuses, and a unit for identifying each of the plurality of printing apparatuses as being either in the sleep state or in the print-ready state, based on the status information.

  • Patent number: 6184995
Abstract: It is an object to provide a printer apparatus, a control method of such an apparatus, and a printer system, in which a proper control can be performed in consideration of a change in network load. When a load of a transmission path is measured and a data reception from a host is interrupted, a waiting time of the data is extended in accordance with the measured load, thereby realizing the object. The set operating conditions are transmitted to the host and are also automatically set into the other printers connected to the network to which the printer is connected via the host, thereby realizing the object.
