  • Patent number: 5282156
Abstract: A floating point addition/subtraction apparatus is internally provided with a leading one anticipator having redundant binary numeral generators, intermediate-carry/intermediate-sum generators, and scan-value generators. Each of the redundant binary numeral generators performs a subtraction with respect to two binary operands, a binary minuend and a binary subtrahend, to generate a redundant binary numeral Zsd having "-1", "0" or "1" at each digit thereof. Each of the intermediate-carry/intermediate-sum generators generates an intermediate carry C.sub.k and an intermediate sum S.sub.k in accordance with Zsd.sub.k =2C.sub.k +S.sub.k using a redundant binary numeral Zsd.sub.k positioned at a k.sup.th digit from a least significant digit of the redundant binary numeral Zsd and a redundant binary numeral Zsd.sub.k+1 positioned at a (k+1).sup.th digit so that C.sub.k =Zsd.sub.k when Zsd.sub.k+1 ="1" or "-1" and C.sub.k =0 when Zsd.sub.k+1 ="0".

  • Patent number: 5212661
Abstract: An approximate solution Ya of a function F with respect to a given value X is derived by referring to a relation Y=F(X) at an accuracy at which an error between the approximate solution Ya and an infinitely precise solution Y is smaller than a weight of a digit in a place lower than a lowest place of significant digits for a final solution by two places. The approximate solution Ya is rounded to an interim solution Yr equal to one of possible interim solutions which is closest to the approximate solution Ya. A value Xr is derived from the interim solution Yr and an inverse function F.sup.-1 by referring to a relation Xr=F.sup.-1 (Yr). A sticky digit S is set to 0, 1, or -1 in response to the relation between the magnitudes of the values X and Xr and other information. The sticky digit S is added to a place immediately lower than a lowest place of the interim solution Yr. A result of this addition is rounded in a designated rounding mode to obtain the final solution.

  • Patent number: 5163168
Abstract: A pulse signal generator includes a first delay device for delaying an input pulse signal and converting the input signal into a first intermediate signal. A power supply voltage detector detects a power supply voltage and outputs a signal representative thereof. A second delay device serves to delay the first intermediate signal and to convert the first intermediate signal into a second intermediate signal in response to the output signal from the power supply voltage detector. A logic OR operation is executed between the first and second intermediate signals, and an output signal is generated in response to the first and second intermediate signals. The output signal has a pulse width, which is greater than a pulse width of the input signal when the power supply voltage lies in a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 5122981
Abstract: A floating point processor comprises a first arithmetic unit that adds to or substracts from a first fraction of a first floating point member, a second fraction of a second floating point member. The second number has a weight of corresponding bits equal to that of the first floating point number by being right shifted. The exponent of the second number is less than that of the first number. A second arithmetic unit performs the same adding or substracting operation that the first arithmetic unit performs on the first fraction and the sum of the second fraction and adds the resultant to "1". An inverter reverses every bit derived by the second arithmetic unit. Outputs of the first and second arithmetic units and inverter are supplied to a selector.

  • Patent number: 5053998
Abstract: A sense amplifier is driven by two sense amplifier drivers which operate at a different timing from each other. This can prevent the increase of the peak value of an instantaneous current in the operation of the plurality of differential amplifiers, thus resulting in ensuring that the potential of the signal line connected to the sense amplifier will be changed in a rapid manner. This may bring about a solution of the problem of the delay in timing of starting of specific differential amplifiers so as to enable correct data to be transmitted to the next circuit at all times. Furthermore, by connecting the sense amplifier drivers to opposite ends of the restore and drive signal lines, respectively, the wiring resistance of the restore and drive signal lines may be substantially reduced, thereby improving precise high speed data transmission.

  • Patent number: 4954215
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a highly reliable stress detector. Conventionally, a step of bonding and securing magnetic elements (4) to a driven shaft (1) receiving a stress was needed, so that a high technique was needed to secure the magnetic elements (4) uniformly at the entire surface and transversely symmetrically, disadvantageously increasing the process cost. The present invention therefore has as its object the manufacture of a reliable stress detector by simplifying the process of securing the magnetic elements (4) and realizing a good attachment. According to this invention, a strip of magnetic thin sheet is secured around the driven shaft receiving a stress, and a selective coating removal treatment is applied to the magnetic thin sheet secured to the driven shaft to form magnetic elements parallelly arranged at a predetermined angle relative to the central axis of the driven shaft.
