Abstract: A remote control apparatus for a remote control system using a wireless communication is disclosed. A second designation section designates a category of an electronic device as a pairing target. A transmission section broadcasts a signal which contains information representing the pairing and the category designated by the first designation section and the second designation section. A reception section receives a reply from an electronic device whose category is identical to the category represented by the information contained in the signal, the reply containing identification information of the electronic device and information which represents an electric field intensity of the signal received by the electronic device. A control section decides an electronic device which has transmitted a reply containing information which represents a maximum electric field intensity when a plurality of replies have been received.

Abstract: A remote control system is disclosed, which radio transmits a control command from a remote controller to a receiving apparatus connected to an electronic device as an apparatus under control. The remote controller includes a radio communication section, a first storage section which stores identification information of the remote controller, a second storage section which stores identification information of another pairing party, an operation key, and a control section. The receiving apparatus includes a radio communication section, a first storage section which stores identification information of the receiving apparatus, a second storage section which stores identification information of another pairing party, a time management section, and a control section.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting receiving system is provided. The digital broadcasting receiving system includes an information processing device for executing a loader, a main process, and a supervisory process, a digital broadcasting receiving device detachably connected to the information processing device. The information processing device includes storage means on which the loader is developed, and transmits the main process and the supervisory process to the digital broadcasting receiving device. The digital broadcasting receiving device includes receiving means for receiving the broadcast signal to generate content data, decryption key storage means, process decryption means for decrypting the main process and the supervisory process using the decryption key, protective data adding means for adding protective data to the main process decrypted by the process decryption means, and first protective data storage means.

Abstract: To make it possible to transmit many messages without seriously affecting video information which essentially has to be transmitted, messages are registered in a DMT, and indexes to the messages are registered in an rDMT. The rDMT is transmitted by every transponder, while the DMT is transmitted by a single predetermined transponder.

Abstract: An information search system is provided. The information search system is capable of searching a target content based on meta information provided by a broadcast station, in which a reception device makes an inquiry toward a directory service server based on a meta information reference ID accompanying meta information coming from the broadcast station so that a meta information group is derived for reference by the meta information reference ID. Also, another inquiry is made toward a content service server based on address information or a keyword of the content included in sub meta information in the meta information group so as to perform a search for any desired content.

Abstract: To transmit EPG information efficiently in a small volume of transmission, it is so disposed that SDTs corresponding to respective transponders are referred in an NIT stating the overall configuration of the network and necessary information for reception. In each SDT, a real channel for transmitting video signals and a corresponding dummy channel are provided in a pair, and the dummy channel is provided with a gEMT and a dEMT for stating information on events. An ETT is provided correspondingly to the real channel. In an ETT, a gEMT is caused to be referred to. In a dEMT, outline documents of events are stated, and in a gEMT information other than the outline documents of events is stated.

A pad of a remote controller is operated with a finger to obtain position coordinates, and a cursor displayed on a display unit provided in or connected to an electronic apparatus is moved according to the position coordinates. A certain area is set at a center of the display screen of the display unit. By turning on a switch of the remote controller while positioning the cursor in this area, a channel-tuning and sound volume operation picture, an audio mode operation picture, a video input operation picture, an image quality control operation picture and a tone control operation picture are selected one after another.

Abstract: An electronic appliance, which can facilitate operation of a commander for transmitting a remote control signal for the electronic appliance, includes a receiver for receiving a remote control signal from a commander, a plurality of input terminals for receiving video signals from external signal sources, a signal selection switch for selecting one of the signals received at the input terminals and a broadcast signal and for delivering the selected signal as an output video signal therefrom, a code converter operable in response to the condition of the signal selection switch for converting a signal received at the receiver into a code by which the pertaining signal source can be controlled, and an output terminal for supplying an output of the code converter therefrom to the pertaining signal source via a signal cable.
