  • Patent number: 5842271
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for assembling an electric motor capable of equalizing a gap formed between a stator and a rotor even when a casing body has low dimensional accuracy. In assembling an electric motor, such as an electric motor section of a scroll compressor to be employed in an air conditioner, outer diameters of bearings are made smaller than an inner diameter of the casing body. In a first assembling machine, a first bearing is welded to the casing body with a center of an inner peripheral surface of the stator aligned with a center of the first bearing. A rotary shaft around which the rotor is mounted, is inserted into a center portion of the casing body. In a second bearing assembling machine, a second bearing is welded to the casing body with the center of the first bearing aligned with a center of the second bearing. Consequently, an electric motor can be produced in which the stator, the first bearing, and the second bearing are concentrically aligned with each other.

  • Patent number: 5304461
Abstract: Thin diamond films can be selectively deposited imagewise on a substrate by gas phase synthesis. The substrate may be either a silicon substrate or a basal thin diamond film formed beforehand on a substrate by gas phase synthesis. Where a silicon substrate is used, its surface is first abraded to give a surface roughness suitable for gas phase synthesis of diamond. When a basal thin diamond film is used, a coating material capable of withstanding a temperature higher than a substrate temperature required for gas phase synthesis of diamond and having a high etching selectivity to diamond is needed to cover areas other than where the thin diamond film is to be newly formed. When a lift-off method is used, a thin masking film having a melting point higher than a temperature to be employed for gas phase synthesis of diamond can also be used in place of the coating material described above.

  • Patent number: 5066938
Abstract: A diamond thin film thermistor having a substrate, an electrically insulating diamond layer formed on the substrate by vapor-phase synthesis, a semiconducting diamond layer as a temperature-sensing part on the electrically insulating diamond layer by vapor-phase synthesis, and metal thin film electrodes attached to the semiconducting diamond layer. A plurality of such diamond thin film thermistors can simultaneously be formed on a single substrate, and the substrate is cut with a dicing saw to provide individual diamond thin film thermistor chips of the same quality.

  • Patent number: 4874939
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting position/variance of input light is disclosed which includes a photoelectric conversion device receiving input light constituted of a first resistive layer formed of a first photoelectric conversion material and a second resistive layer formed of a second photoelectric conversion material connected with the first resistive layer through a depletion layer or directly, wherein the first resistive layer is provided with uniform resistivity throughout its surface so that a linear output proportional to the average of the distances between one end of the photoelectric conversion device and positions of the input light is detected and the second resistive layer is provided with resistivity dependent upon the distance from its one end so that a quandratic ouput proportional to the average of the squares of the distances between one end of the photoelectric conversion device and positions of the input light is detected.

  • Patent number: 4481921
Abstract: A fuel injection apparatus for an internal combustion engine arranged so as to inject different types of fuel in a given order has fuel injection nozzles respectively corresponding to cylinders of the internal combustion engine, compressors for respectively delivering an auxiliary fuel to the fuel injection nozzles, and a main fuel injection pump for compressing and delivering a main fuel to the fuel injection nozzles at respective given timings. Each fuel injection nozzle has a fuel reservoir around the distal end portion of a nozzle needle in the vicinity of a fuel injection port. The auxiliary fuel from the corresponding compressor is delivered to a portion of the fuel reservoir which is adjacent to the fuel injection port. A second passage is formed to receive the auxiliary fuel from a portion of the fuel reservoir which is adjacent to the fuel injection port. A first passage is formed to communicate with a portion of the fuel reservoir which is spaced apart from the fuel injection port.
