  • Publication number: 20020081212
Abstract: A shaft seal seals a rotary shaft surface to prevent fluid from moving between a high-pressure area and a low-pressure area. The shaft seal has a lip type ring fitted on the side of the high-pressure area of the rotary shaft. The lip type ring further includes a lip ring, a plurality of first portions and a plurality of second portions. The lip ring is located around the rotary shaft. The lip ring has a ring surface. The first portions are formed on the ring surface to slidably contact the rotary shaft surface. The first portions guide the fluid towards a space between the ring surface and the rotary shaft surface as the rotary shaft is rotated. The second portions are formed on the ring surface. • Patent number: 6398515
Abstract: A compressor including a compressing mechanism accommodated in a housing. The mechanism draws refrigerant from an intake chamber into a compression chamber and discharges the refrigerant from the compression chamber to the discharge chamber. A seal device prevents leakage of refrigerant from the internal space to the atmosphere between the drive shaft and the housing. An isolation chamber, which is separately formed in the housing, accommodates the seal device. A pressure reducing passage reduces the pressure of the isolation chamber to reduce the pressure difference applied to the seal device.

  • Publication number: 20020014747
Abstract: A lip type seal device for a rotary shaft seals about the rotary shaft between a high pressure inner zone and a low pressure outer zone. The lip type seal device includes a first seal, a second seal. The first seal is arranged adjacent to high pressure side, and the second seal is arranged at low pressure side of the first seal. The first seal and the second seal contact an outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft, and seal about the rotary shaft. The lip front end of the first seal is supported by a bending portion of a support ring. The lip front end of the first seal is also supported by the back-up portion arranged in a space between the lip front end of the first seal and the lip front end of the second seal. Therefore, the bending portion and the back-up portion prevents the lip front end of the first seal from bending or depressed by the high pressure inner zone, while the rotation of the rotary shaft is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20020015645
Abstract: A compressor has a housing, which supports a rotary shaft, and a crank chamber. A swash plate is accommodated in the crank chamber. The compressor has an oil chamber located in the housing near a front end portion of the rotary shaft. The oil chamber has an inlet and an outlet. The outlet connects to the suction pressure zone. Either lubricant oil that is separated from refrigerant gas or refrigerant gas in the suction pressure zone flows into the oil chamber from the inlet and flows out from the outlet to the suction pressure zone. A seal mechanism seals the oil chamber. A seal seals between the oil chamber and the crank chamber. This permits an inclination angle of the swash plate to control accurately and smoothly while lubricating the seal mechanism optimally.
