  • Patent number: 10761777
Abstract: A Data Storage Device (DSD) includes a first memory for storing data and a Storage Class Memory (SCM) for storing data. The SCM has at least one characteristic of being faster than the first memory in storing data, using less power to store data than the first memory, and providing a greater usable life than the first memory for repeatedly storing data in a same memory location. At least a portion of the SCM is allocated or reserved for use by a host, and logical addresses assigned to the SCM are mapped to device addresses of the first memory identifying locations for storing data in the first memory. The host is provided with an indication of the logical addresses assigned to the SCM to allow the host to retrieve data from and store data in the DSD or to directly access data using the logical addresses assigned to the SCM.

  • Patent number: 10126981
Abstract: A write command is received to store data in a Data Storage Device (DSD). At least one of a Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM) and a Storage Class Memory (SCM) is selected for storing the data of the write command based on a number of previously received write commands indicating an address of the write command or a priority of the write command. The SCM has at least one characteristic of being faster than the NVRAM in storing data, using less power to store data, and providing a greater usable life for repeatedly storing data in a same memory location. In one example, at least a portion of the SCM is allocated for use by a host. Logical addresses assigned to the SCM are mapped to device addresses of the NVRAM. The host is provided with an indication of the logical addresses assigned to the SCM.

  • Patent number: 9043675
Abstract: A nonvolatile memory is configured with blocks as deletion units, each block having several pages that are configured as write units. A controller for the nonvolatile memory includes an error correcting circuit, which detects and corrects an error in data read out of a page in one of the blocks of the nonvolatile memory, the page being referenced by a logical address. The controller also determines an error occurrence when the error cannot be corrected. An error block table is provided to store the logical address where the error occurred, and a physical address corresponding to the logical address.

  • Publication number: 20120278536
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a memory device includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory, and control section. The nonvolatile semiconductor memory includes a first memory area, and second memory area other than the first memory area. The control section receives a first command from a host, and permits use of the second memory area on the basis of the first command. The control section receives a second command from the host, and transmits a parameter indicating the capacity of the first memory area to the host on the basis of the second command. The control section further receives a third command from the host, and accesses the first memory area on the basis of the third command. When use of the second memory area is permitted, the control section receives the third command from the host, and accesses the second memory area on the basis of the third command.

  • Patent number: 7762577
Abstract: An active knee bolster (28) and a knee bolster (42), whose accommodated positions are different, are mounted within an instrument panel (18) along a curved configuration of a wall portion (24) of the instrument panel (18) which, in a vehicle transverse direction, is convex and concave in a vehicle body longitudinal direction. At a time of a vehicle body collision, a main body (30) of the active knee bolster (28) moves from an accommodated position to a leg restraining position, and a leg restraining position of the active knee bolster (28) and a leg restraining position of the fixed-type knee bolster (42) become equal positions in the vehicle body longitudinal direction. In accordance with this invention, legs of an occupant can be reliably protected, and degrees of freedom in designing a vehicle interior wall such as the instrument panel or the like are improved.

  • Patent number: 7328916
Abstract: In a knee protection system according to the present invention, a knee protection panel is driven from a standby position surrounded by an interior member to the vehicle rear side to a knee-protecting position in front of the knees of an occupant by a drive mechanism when the vehicle is crashing, whereby the knees moving forward are protected by the knee protection panel thus driven. The drive mechanism includes a holding portion for holding the knee protection panel in such a manner that the knee protection panel is moved rearward. Engagement portions are provided, respectively, at locations where the holding portion and the knee protection panel connect with each other in such a manner as to be brought into engagement with each other.

  • Patent number: 7290730
Abstract: A pinion of a pretensioner is provided at a side of a torsion shaft, which side is opposite a side connected integrally to a spool via a sleeve. A base lock of a lock mechanism is connected to the pinion. Due to the lock mechanism operating, a leg plate side end portion of the torsion shaft is locked. In this way, due to operation of the pretensioner, the pinion, which is connected to a rotating portion of a sleeve, also is locked by the locking mechanism. Therefore, a piston of the pretensioner is not lowered, and internal pressure of a cylinder does not affect deformation of the torsion shaft.

  • Patent number: 7240919
Abstract: The invention provides a vehicular shock absorbing body which absorbs a shock by a grid-like rib formed on a support plate portion and can inhibit a load point at an initial stage and a terminal stage, in a load—displacement (F-S) curve of the vehicular shock absorbing body. A shock absorbing body (40) used for absorbing a shock in a vehicle and made of a synthetic resin, is provided with a support plate portion (42), and a shock absorbing portion (45) formed in a grid shape on the support plate portion (42) by a plurality of thin ribs (44, 44), and plastically deforming at a time of applying a shock load so as to be absorbable a shock energy.

  • Patent number: 7152881
Abstract: An actuator of an active knee bolster is provided with a drive force generation device and a one way lock mechanism that is disposed in a vicinity of an operation end of the drive force generation device. The one way lock mechanism is configured such that, if attempted movement of a piston member in an inward insertion direction occurs, respective engagement portions are moved to a taper portion by urging force of a spring, whereby the engagement portions are abutted against an external periphery surface of the piston member such that the piston member and the engagement portions are fixed. Accordingly, as a result of the one way lock mechanism, a main body of the active knee bolster that has been moved to a restraining position cannot return in a vehicle forward direction, and thus it is possible to generate a substantial lower limb restraining force that restrains a lower limb of an occupant.

  • Publication number: 20060136413
Abstract: A CPU displays a watermark setting button on a display unit. When the watermark setting button is pressed, the CPU confirms whether there is mismatch between a character sequence and a font, which are selected in order to print a watermark, on the basis of a printer driver that is stored in a hard disk drive. If there is mismatch, the CPU switches the font to a system default font, and executes a watermark generation process.
