Patent number: 6304397Abstract: A helical scan magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus incorporating an MR head to serve as a reproducing magnetic head is arranged to convert data which is recorded on a magnetic tape into data in the form of DC-free code trains. The magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is provided with a high-pass filter for attenuating low-frequency components of a reproduced signal detected by the MR head. Moreover, a demodulating circuit is provided which demodulates data in a state before data is converted into the DC-free code trains from the reproduced signal, in which the low-frequency components have been attenuated by said high-pass filter. As a result, noise (thermal asperities) in a low-frequency region caused when the magnetic tape and the MR head are brought into contact with each other is removed so that a reproduced output free from excessive noise is obtained. The high-pass filter is, for example, a rotary transformer mounted on rotational drum.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1999Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Tadashi Ozue, Toshio Shirai, Takehiko Saito, Yoshiteru Kamatani, Tomohiro Ikegami

Patent number: 6297631Abstract: A magnetic signal reproducing apparatus which can lessen fluctuation of reproduced outputs in reproducing magnetic signals recorded in a magnetic tape by a magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head even if a magnetic tape sliding face of the magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head is abraded. A current value of a sense current when a voltage fluctuation level of the sense current caused when a magnetic field in the normal direction is applied to a magneto-resistance effect element of the magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head is equal with a voltage fluctuation level of the sense current caused when a magnetic field in the opposite direction is applied thereto is set to a predetermined value I0. Then, the current value of the sense current supplied to the magneto-resistance effect element of the magneto-resistance effect type magnetic head is set to be greater than I0 in reproducing the magnetic signals recorded in the magnetic tape.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1999Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Tadashi Ozue, Toshio Shirai, Yoshiteru Kamatani, Tomohiro Ikegami, Takehiko Saito

Patent number: 5381275Abstract: In step S1, the capacity of the area (remaining quantity) of a disk in which information can be recorded is read, and the remaining quantity is displayed in step S2. After a user inputs the recording time of information to be recorded and the recording capacity w for the recording, an average transmission rate R.sub.1 is calculated from expression R.sub.1 =w/t-.alpha. in step S4. The rate .alpha. is the transmission rate for transmitting signals other than a video signal, such as an audio signal, attached to the video signal. Data obtained by applying a DCT treatment to the video data is quantized with a quantization width corresponding to the average transmission rate R.sub.1 and this data is intermittently recorded on the disk.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1993Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Hajime Nitta, Masatoshi Takashima, Takehiko Saito, Tomihiro Nakagawa, Keitaro Yamashita

Patent number: 4592609Abstract: An electrical connector includes a male assembly and a female assembly matingly receiving the male assembly. Each of the male and female assemblies includes a protective member biased to normally cover the corresponding one of the male-side and female-side electrical terminals. When the male assembly is inserted into the female assembly, the male member pushes the female-side protective member into the housing of the female assembly against the biasing action imparted to the protective member. When the protective member of the male assembly is fully inserted into the housing, it is stopped by a shoulder provided in the housing. As the male assembly is further inserted into the female-side housing, it engages the inside surface of the housing. In that case, both the terminals of the male and female assemblies are exposed from the corresponding protective members and electrically engaged with each other.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1984Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Limited, Niles Parts Company, LimitedInventors: Junichi Kasai, Takehiko Saito
