  • Patent number: 7379749
Abstract: A base station transmits information in a downlink signal that identifies whether the base station is an adaptive array base station. If a terminal capable of performing diversity reception determines that a terminal to be connected is an adaptive array base station, it stops to perform diversity reception and set an antenna used for an uplink signal transmission to be used for an immediately following reception among a plurality of antennas (11, 12). Thus, a reception effectively utilizing transmission directivity from the adaptive array base station is attained, and interference wave can be reduced. These process are executed with software by DSP (18).

  • Patent number: 7319683
Abstract: In a radio base station (100) that communicates with a mobile station according to the PHS standards, a reception timing detection unit (55) measures the time when a UW signal of a signal separated by a signal regulating unit (51) for each mobile station is received with reference to the starting point of the time slot of a TDMA/TDD frame, as a reception timing signal. A control unit (80), when assigning a communication channel according to spatial multiplexing to a mobile station, allocates a communication channel in which a reception timing difference between the new mobile station and all mobile stations communicating is equal to or exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20070274335
Abstract: The quality of signals during SDMA is raised. In an uplink, a signal processing unit receives signals respectively from a plurality of terminal apparatuses which have been multiple-accessed by division of time. It derives receiving channel characteristics corresponding to the plurality of terminal apparatuses, respectively, for each time slot. In a downlink, the signal processing unit derives transmitting channel characteristics from the receiving channel characteristics derived and, based on the transmitting channel characteristics derived, it transmits signals respectively to the plurality of terminal apparatuses to which SDMA has been performed.

  • Patent number: 7298774
Abstract: An adaptive array apparatus (100) that has a weight converge on an optimal value is provided. The adaptive array apparatus repeatedly adjusts the weight using predetermined calculations so as to minimize a difference between a desired signal and a combined signal which has been weighted with the weight. A parameter control unit (71) judges whether an adjusted weight is located closer to an optimal value than a reference value, and according to the judgment result, changes a step size which is used in the predetermined calculations performed by a reception weight calculating unit (72), to determine the extent to which the weight should be adjusted. With this construction, the adaptive array apparatus can increase convergence stability and speed in calculating a weight, and the weight converges on an optimal value.

  • Patent number: 7209707
Abstract: A spatial multiplex base station (1000, 2000, 3000) estimates an optimal array parameter appropriate to a propagation environment of a received signal and changes the array parameter in an adaptive manner. The optimal value is estimated by referring to a table prepared in advance, by searching for the optimal value while executing an array process multiple times using different parameters, or by searching for the optimal value from the results of the previous frames. Consequently, a weight estimation sequential algorithm is executed based on the estimated array parameter. This enables realization of optimal signal reception in a radio receiving device, regardless of the propagation environment.

  • Patent number: 7130659
Abstract: In response to a connection request from a terminal, a base station transmits to the terminal a signal instructing a reception operation appropriate to the transmission operation of the base station. According to this instruction signal, the terminal selects and executes an optimal reception operation. Moreover, the terminal gives its reception operation information to the base station in advance. According to this reception operation information, the base station transmits a reception instruction operation to the terminal. These processes are realized by software using DSP (12, 14) or the like.

  • Patent number: 7088690
Abstract: For each of a plurality of users having multiple connection to a specific time slot a synchronization window of a predetermined temporal length having a center corresponding to a synchronization position is set to disallow a subsequent signal reception outside the widow. Furthermore timings of transmission for users are controlled to prevent synchronization windows from overlapping or being too distant from each other in the time slot. Thus, synchronization positions can be prevented from approaching each other or having an inverted time relationship therebetween. This process is provided by a DSP in software.

  • Patent number: 7076212
Abstract: A weight vector of a precedent frame calculated by a weight vector calculator (4) and stored in a memory (3) is applied to a signal received through a plurality of antennas (ANT1, . . . ANTn) for removing an interference wave component. A synchronous position is detected from the signal subjected to removal of the interference wave component by a method of correlation synchronization, and supplied to the weight vector calculator (4). The weight vector calculator (4) executes calculation of a weight vector with the detected synchronous position as a start position. Thus, when signals of the same frequency are received in a CS in an overlapping manner, the synchronous position of a signal received from a desired PS can be correctly specified.
