  • Patent number: 6760765
Abstract: A cluster server apparatus operable to continuously carrying out data distribution to terminals even if among a plurality of cache servers of the cluster server apparatus cache server, while optimally distributing loads on the plurality of cache servers. A cluster control unit of the cluster server apparatus distributes requests from the terminals based on the load of each of the plurality of cache servers. A cache server among the plurality of cache servers distributes, requested data (streaming data) to a terminal if the requested data is stored in a streaming data storage unit of the cache server, while distributing data from a content server the requested data if it is not stored in the streaming data storage unit. The data distributed from the content server is redundantly stored in the respective streaming data storage units of two or more cache servers. One cache server detects the state of distribution of the other cache server that stores the same data as that stored in the one cache server.

  • Patent number: 6430620
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data transfer method and a system in a computer network to which are connected a number of computers, more specifically to a data transfer method of stream data continuous in time series and a system for it. The present invention makes a request for change of rate from the client 470 in correspondence to the state of vacancy of said receiving buffer 412, and changes the send rate on the server 400 based on that request for change of rate. This prevents any overflow of stream data from the receiving buffer 412. Furthermore, based on the re-transfer request issued from the client 470 in correspondence to the loss of stream data received by said packet receiving means 410, the storing means on the server 400 sends out data corresponding to the lost data concerned. This makes it possible to compensate for the loss in case of occurrence of any data loss.

  • Patent number: 6023416
Abstract: An input-side rectifier of a DC power supply apparatus receives and rectifies an AC voltage selected from first and second groups of AC voltages. The AC voltages in the second group are lower than those of the first group. A voltage boosting/lowering converter boosts or lowers the output voltage of the input-side rectifier to a voltage having a predetermined value. An inverter converts the output voltage of the voltage boosting/lowering converter to a high-frequency voltage. A voltage transformer transforms the high-frequency voltage from the inverter. An output-side rectifier rectifies the transformed high-frequency voltage from the transformer.

  • Patent number: 6009471
Abstract: A protocol-conforming server system separated into the receive part and the send part and provided with a receive protocol processor for processing the receive and a send protocol processor for processing the send which permits speedy sending out large-sized data which requires to be continuous and consecutive, e.g., moving image data and audio data. Packet header models are provided as template to save processing time, for the data covered by the present invention are sent out in the form of a packet, and almost the same packet header is used each time.

  • Patent number: 5917711
Abstract: DC power supply apparatus includes an input-side rectifier for converting an AC signal from an AC power supply into a DC signal. A DC-to-high-frequency converter converts the DC signal into a high frequency signal in response to a control signal from a control unit. An output-side rectifier converts the high frequency signal into a DC signal and applies it to a load. An input current detector detects an input current flowing through the input-side rectifier and generates a signal representative of the input current. A load current detector detects a load current flowing through the load and generates a signal representative of the load current.

  • Patent number: 4156180
Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting metabolic activity in a medium which includes an electrical circuit suitable for passing electrical current through a medium which contains a suspected metabolic agent. The circuit includes means for generating a reference voltage. When metabolic activity occurs in the medium the voltage drop thereacross changes. To balance the changing voltage developed across the medium with the generated reference voltage, an adjustment of current has to be performed. By monitoring such adjustments, made electrically and automatically, there is a correlation made between those adjustments and the metabolic activity in the medium. Use of this apparatus and method allows large quantities of sample media to be tested for detection of metabolic activity rapidly, accurately and reliably.

  • Patent number: 4072578
Abstract: A multi-chambered module for holding separate samples of nutrient media. A plurality of chambers, with access means into each, is permanently attached to an electrically non-conductive base. Embedded within the base under the chambers is a plurality of electrically conductive leads. Terminal portions at one end of the leads emerge in spaced pairs into each chamber forming electrodes therein. At the other end of the leads terminal portions are exposed for contact with an electrical source. A signal passed through the electrodes in galvanic contact with media permits the impedance thereof to be determined, with changes of impedance directly associated with microorganism growth therein.
