  • Publication number: 20050161581
Abstract: A photodetector having directional characteristics is obtained by arranging a photosensitive element for a solar radiation sensor, a photosensitive element for an illuminance sensor, and a light shielding part in the same package constructed by a case and an optical lens as a cap. The photosensitive element for a solar radiation sensor has two photosensitive parts which are formed apart from each other on the same plane, and outputs a detection signal according to an amount of solar radiation incident on the two photosensitive parts. The photosensitive element for an illuminance sensor is disposed apart from the two photosensitive parts in the photosensitive element for a solar radiation sensor, is formed in a region different from a border region of the two photosensitive parts, and detects illuminance above a vehicle. The light shielding part is provided above at least the border region of the two photosensitive parts.

  • Publication number: 20050157509
Abstract: In a light control device for a vehicle, a control portion determines whether an illuminance detected by an illuminance sensor reaches a first reference illuminance, and performs a turning on or off control of lights of the vehicle based on the determined result. When the control portion receives an external environment change signal from an environment change detecting means, the control portion uses a second reference illuminance higher than the first reference illuminance, instead of the first reference illuminance, and performs the turning on or off control when the illuminance detected by the illuminance sensor reaches the second reference illuminance. Accordingly, vehicle lights can be suitably turned on or off in accordance with an external environment of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050122684
Abstract: A cooling system is provided employing at least two modular cooling units (MCUs). Each MCU is capable of providing system coolant to multiple electronics subsystems to be cooled, and each includes a heat exchanger, a first cooling loop with at least one control valve, and a second cooling loop. The first cooling loop receives chilled facility coolant from a source and passes at least a portion thereof through the heat exchanger, with the portion being controlled by the at least one control valve. The second cooling loop provides cooled system coolant to the multiple electronics subsystems, and expels heat in the heat exchanger from the multiple electronics subsystems to the chilled facility coolant in the first cooling loop. The at least one control valve allows regulation of facility coolant flow through the heat exchanger, thereby allowing control of temperature of system coolant in the second cooling loop.

  • Patent number: 6876450
Abstract: A laser absorption spectroscopy type gas detection device is provided in which a light source device emits a laser beam containing a light component having a wavelength corresponding to an absorption spectrum of gas to be detected. A concave mirror has a reflecting surface to reflect and condense the laser beam reflected by material body existing in an advancing direction of the laser beam. A light receiver is disposed at the condensing position by the concave mirror and outputs an electric signal for detecting whether the gas to be detected is present in a vicinity of the material body. An adjustment mechanism freely moves and adjusts a relative position of the concave mirror and the light receiver in accordance with a distance to the material body such that the light receiver is positioned at the condensing position.

  • Patent number: 6814544
Abstract: In a joining method for manufacturing a rotor blade by joining a plurality of members, the members are pressed so as to exert a predetermined pressure on the bonding interface. A pulse voltage is applied to the members to pass electric current therethrough, and the joint portion is heated by resistance heating generated at the bonding interface and in the bulk of the members to cause diffusion bonding and thereby to join the members to each other. With this method, good joining can be achieved without substantially changing the crystal structure and mechanical properties of the base metals.
