  • Patent number: 8948251
Abstract: The present invention provides a transcoder having a MPEG decoder and a MPEG encoder, for changing a GOP structure and the bit rate of an encoded bitstream obtained as a result of an encoding process. The MPEG encoder receives a past encoding parameters generated at a past encoding process as a history information, and performs a present encoding process by using the past encoding parameters selectively so that the present encoding process is optimized. Furthermore, the encoder describe the past encoding parameters into the encoded bitstream as the history information so as to reuse the history information in advance encoding process. The picture quality of the video data does not deteriorate even if decoding and encoding processes are carried out repeatedly by the transcoder.

  • Publication number: 20140314159
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an image processing device and method that enable improvement in processing efficiency in encoding or decoding. A type E0 of an LCU 115 and its coefficient are determined on the encoder side. The coefficient of the type E0 was sent to the decoder side at the time of the LCU 111, and has been stored in an EO buffer included in an adaptive offset filter on the decoder side. For the LCU 115, therefore, a copy of the coefficient of the type E0 in the EO buffer is used on decoder side without the sending of the coefficient of the type E0. As described above, the parameters of the adaptive offset filter, which are transmitted in one batch at the beginning of a frame in the related art, are sent sequentially at the beginning of an LCU for each LCU. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, an image processing device.

  • Patent number: 8787691
Abstract: Encoding efficiency of image prediction encoding can be improved by performing horizontal packing as horizontal processing to manipulate a horizontal-direction array of pixels of each of a first thinned-out image and a second thinned-out image arrayed in checkerboard fashion, obtained by thinning out the pixels of each of a first image and a second image different from the first image every other line in an oblique direction, wherein pixels of first and second thinned-out images are packed in the horizontal direction. A combined image can be generated, which is combined by adjacently arraying the post-horizontal processing first and second thinned-out images after horizontal processing, as an image to serve as the object of prediction encoding. Aspects of this disclosure can be applied to a case of performing prediction encoding on a first and second image, such as a left and right images making up a 3D image.
