  • Patent number: 8032752
Abstract: A data transmission apparatus, a data reception apparatus, and a data transfer system prevent a case where same usable data is present in plural apparatuses at the same time and can certainly move data, in MOVE processing of the data between the data transmission apparatus and the data reception apparatus. The data transmission apparatus includes a synchronous control unit synchronizing a timing of (i) deleting or invalidating, in the data transmission apparatus, move-target data and (ii) decrypting, in the data reception apparatus, the move-target data that has been encrypted. With this, it becomes possible to prevent a case where the same usable data is present in plural apparatuses at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20110179497
Abstract: A portable terminal (2) is a data transmission and reception control apparatus. A Proximity confirmation unit (23) confirms a first proximity condition of proximity to the data transmission apparatus. A proximity apparatus authentication and registration processing unit (21) registers the portable terminal (2) into the data transmission apparatus when authentication in conjunction with the data transmission apparatus is successful, and the first proximity condition is satisfied. A proximity confirmation unit (27) confirms a second proximity condition of proximity to the data reception apparatus. A registration starting and authentication processing unit (26) obtains identification information of the data reception apparatus when authentication in conjunction with the data reception apparatus is successful, and when the second proximity condition is satisfied.

  • Publication number: 20110119504
Abstract: A content reproducing apparatus includes a viewing expiration time determining unit which determines lapse of a viewing expiration time, a decryption key temporary storage unit which temporarily stores a decryption key, a decryption key moving unit which moves the decryption key from a recording medium to the decryption key temporary storage unit and returns the decryption key onto the recording medium, and a content protection control unit which controls the movement and the return of the decryption key. The content protection control unit performs control to move, when a reproduction start instruction is received, the decryption key from the recording medium to the decryption key temporary storage unit, return, when the reproduction of the content ends, the decryption key onto the recording medium when the viewing expiration time has not lapsed, and not return the decryption key onto the recording medium if the viewing expiration time has lapsed.

  • Publication number: 20110067111
Abstract: A content receiver writes out, together with content received from a content server, time supply source designation information indicating a second time supply source designated by a copyright protection system (DRM) to an exchangeable medium in association with the content. When the time supply source designation information is recorded in the exchangeable medium, a content reproducer performs viewing expiration time determination for the content recorded in the exchangeable medium referring time obtained on the basis of the second time supply source indicated by the time supply source designation information instead of a first time supply source referred to in order to specify present time used in determining a viewing expiration time in a content protection system (CPS).

  • Publication number: 20100186092
Abstract: Methods to set a viewing and/or listening term are classified into two types, which are a fixed-time-length type to limit time length and a fixed-expiration-time type to limit expiration time. And the timings of license acquisition are classified into two types which are an immediate-acquisition type and a point-of-use type. The type of the timing of license acquisition is written to a meta data which is to be sent to a terminal before initiating download. The terminal determines the timing of license acquisition according to the meta data. When contents are point-of-use type, the terminal doesn't acquire a key and an expiration time information until a time of initiating playback. On the other hand, when contents are immediate-acquisition type, the terminal acquires the key and the expiration time information at any point of time. Since the key is acquired at the early timing such as download completion timing, a reaction velocity in response to a playback instruction can be heighten.

  • Patent number: 7747016
Abstract: A data transmitting and receiving method for improving transmission and reception efficiency can be obtained by improving the security through update of a control key and reduction of the frequency of the authentication and key exchange process. An STB 1 transmits encrypted digital data Kw (D) obtained by encrypting digital data D using a work key Kw, and an encrypted work key Kc (Kw) obtained by encrypting the Kw using a control key Kc. The Kc is periodically or non-periodically updated, and an identifier L identifying the Kc is assigned to each Kc. A VTR device 2 decrypts the received Kc (Kw) using the Kc obtained by performing the authentication and key exchange process with the STB 1, decrypts the Kw (D) received using the Kw to obtain the D. It is determined whether or not the Kc has been updated while the reception process is suspended by referring to the transmitted L when the reception process is suspended and then resumed.

  • Publication number: 20100077488
Abstract: A data transmission and reception system and the like are provided, which are capable of preventing: unauthorized copying between a server and a client; and unnecessary use limit when a copyright constraint is conformed. A server generates and manages overall use permission information indicating that the overall data accumulated in the server can be used and distributes the overall use permission information together with copied data to the client determined to exist within a private use range. The client manages the overall use permission information and the data received from the server in such a manner associated with each other and enables use of the data received from the server only when the overall use permission information is valid. When the client moves only within the private use range, the server continuously manages the overall use permission information so as to enables use of the copied data.

  • Publication number: 20090257587
Abstract: An AV data transmission apparatus comprising: an encryption unit which encrypts AV data; an AV data transmission unit which transmits the encrypted AV data; a cipher-type-information switching unit which switches cipher type information indicating a cipher scheme used for the AV data, to other cipher type information; and a cipher-type-information transmission unit which transmits cipher type information. When transmitting AV data which is prohibited from being used in a reception apparatus that does not support new usage control information, the AV data transmission apparatus assigns different cipher type information to be notified to the reception apparatus, so that even the reception apparatus which cannot recognize the new usage control information can recognize that being unable to perform decryption is due to new encryption performed by the AV data transmission apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20090041424
Abstract: A conventional recording and reproducing apparatus cannot move second copyright-protected AV data while moving a first copyright-protected AV content when moving such AV data via a network because the recording and reproducing apparatus issues an exchange key to be used for decrypting the AV data to a single receiving-side recording and reproducing apparatus only. The recording and reproducing apparatus of the present invention generates a new exchange key as a random number and transmits the new exchange key each time an exchange key for use in a move mode is requested; while it always transmits an identical exchange key when a normal exchange key is requested. The recording and reproducing apparatus selects an exchange key to be used according to the address of a recording and reproducing apparatus which is the transmission destination when encrypting an AV content to be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7415039
Abstract: It is objected to simplify a procedure concerning bandwidth acquisition. Bandwidth acquiring means 809 of a second transmitting apparatus 814 acquires a bandwidth which was used by a first transmitting apparatus 806 by using a propagation delay identifier804 read from first transmitting apparatus 806 and a maximum transmission data size 805 after stopping transmission of first transmitting apparatus 806. Each apparatus is composed so that transmission is started using this bandwidth and because returning and re-acquisition are not accompanied when the transmission is switched, necessary procedure can be simplified. Further, it is possible to effectively use the bandwidth by using a propagation delay identifier.
