  • Patent number: 7218736
Abstract: A data transfer method which eliminates erroneous operation of conventional devices not supporting encryption when copy-protected AV information is encrypted and sent on an IEEE 1394 bus. Synchronous data transferred through isochronous communication contains i) encryption identification information for indicating encryption of actual data and ii) actual data. Only the actual data is encrypted. Encryption identification information indicating encryption of actual data in synchronous data is sent together with actual data from the sending device. A receiving device detecting encryption of actual data from this encryption identification information requests decrypting information from the sending device. The receiving device decrypts the actual data using decrypting information received from the sending device according to this request.

  • Patent number: 7146498
Abstract: The problem to be solved is that once copyright claimed AV data is passed to application software, the application software can freely process the AV data for recording, etc., defeating the purpose of copyright protection. The invention provides a computer which comprises a system section 12 and an application software section 13, and which takes in copyright claimed, encrypted data via a digital interface 1 for processing therein, wherein the system section 12 judges that the application software section 13 is legitimate application software for the protection of copyright, and if the application software is a legitimate one, the system section 12 passes a key for the encrypted data to the application software section 13.

  • Publication number: 20060151906
Abstract: To provided a woody molded product manufacturing method, including: the step of hardening a surface-side portion of a primary molding body containing a woody material and a thermosetting binder by a smaller compression amount; and the step of hardening a central portion of the primary molding body by a larger compression amount after the step of hardening the surface-side portion. According to this method, by hardening the surface-side portion of the primary molding body by a smaller compression amount, the binding of the woody material is loosely affected with small mutual contact areas, with the molding material being at a lower density. Further, by hardening the central portion of the primary molding body by a larger compression amount, the binding of the woody material is densely affected with large mutual contact areas, with the molding material being at a higher density.

  • Publication number: 20050281234
Abstract: A communication terminal device includes a wireless LAN module configured to search a plurality of communication channels by channel scanning in order to find a communication channel available for communication and configured to perform wireless communication using the found communication channel through a wireless LAN. In a search process by channel scanning for searching for the communication channel available for communication, if the communication channel available for communication is not found within a predetermined time period from the beginning of the search process, the wireless LAN module stops the search process, and an operation mode of the wireless LAN module is shifted from a normal operation mode to a power-saving mode.

  • Publication number: 20050163119
Abstract: A first station that supports both a long frame format and a short frame format becomes a parent station in order to communicate with a second station that supports only the long frame format. The first station uses two channels. The first station first transmits data in the short frame format over one of the two channels to initiate a communication with the second station, and waits for a response from the second station. Since the second station supports only a long frame format, the second station cannot recognize the frame and never responds to the first station. Thereafter, the first station transmits data in the long frame format over the other channel in order to establish a connection with the second station, and waits for a response from the second station. The second station can recognize the frame and, therefore, the connection can be established.

  • Publication number: 20050163156
Abstract: It is objected to simplify a procedure concerning bandwidth acquisition. Bandwidth acquiring means 809 of a second transmitting apparatus 814 acquires a bandwidth which was used by a first transmitting apparatus 806 by using a propagation delay identifier804 read from first transmitting apparatus 806 and a maximum transmission data size 805 after stopping transmission of first transmitting apparatus 806. Each apparatus is composed so that transmission is started using this bandwidth and because returning and re-acquisition are not accompanied when the transmission is switched, necessary procedure can be simplified. Further, it is possible to effectively use the bandwidth by using a propagation delay identifier.

  • Publication number: 20050073960
Abstract: When a center transfer rate of three kinds of transfer rates having transfer speeds thereof adjacent to one another and to be used in a next cycle time is selected within a certain predetermined cycle time on the basis of throughput obtained at each of the three transfer rates as a result of data transfer at the three transfer rates the center transfer rate of the three transfer rates to be used within the next cycle time is selected by considering also whether or not a packet loss ratio in the data transfer in that cycle time exceeds a stipulated value.

  • Patent number: 6834111
Abstract: A data transmitting and receiving method for improving transmission and reception efficiency can be obtained by improving the security through update of a control key and reduction of the frequency of the authentication and key exchange process. An STB 1 transmits encrypted digital data Kw (D) obtained by encrypting digital data D using a work key Kw, and an encrypted work key Kc (Kw) obtained by encrypting the Kw using a control key Kc. The Kc is periodically or non-periodically updated, and an identifier L identifying the Kc is assigned to each Kc. A VTR device 2 decrypts the received Kc (Kw) using the Kc obtained by performing the authentication and key exchange process with the STB 1, decrypts the Kw (D) received using the Kw to obtain the D. It is determined whether or not the Kc has been updated while the reception process is suspended by referring to the transmitted L when the reception process is suspended and then resumed.

  • Publication number: 20030231205
Abstract: Methods for realizing advanced graphical user interface (GUI) in panel subunit. The present invention provides, in one embodiment, a button GUI element descriptor that defines a bitmap to be displayed when a button is out of focus and another bitmap to be displayed when the button is in focus. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a table GUI element descriptor that defines a table-like on screen display to be displayed on the contoller device. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a panel GUI element descriptor that includes a focused identifier attribute indicating a pre-determined element of the on-screen display as default focus. In this way, the target device would be able to control the default focus of the controller device when displaying an on-screen display.

  • Publication number: 20030210673
Abstract: In accordance with a network protocol having an IP layer, a MAC layer and a physical layer, an MPDU formed in the physical layer is transmitted through a LAN by radio transmission between a transmitting-side transmission terminal and a receiving-side transmission terminal among a large number of transmission terminals. When a part of the transmission terminals, using the extended network protocol where an extended MPDU having a data amount larger than a data amount standardized in the network protocol can be formed, is a transmitting-side transmission terminal, if it is determined through the LAN that a receiving-side transmission terminal is applicable to the extended network protocol, the transmitting-side transmission terminal forms an extended MPDU in the physical layer in accordance with the extended network protocol, and transmits the extended MPDU through the LAN to the receiving-side transmission terminal by radio transmission.

  • Patent number: 6615293
Abstract: A method and system for providing an exact image transfer and root panel list within the panel subunit graphical user interface mechanism of networked electronic devices. The exact image transfer mechanism allows a target device to send a networked controller device a bitmap image of the exact display required of the target device. By transferring an exact bitmap of what is to be displayed, the target device can guarantee that the display rendered by the controller will not be modified or altered. This is useful in cases where the display represents an electronic program guide (EPG) or other suitable display that should be displayed with a predetermined arrangement and should not be altered by the controller. This is also useful in cases where the controller does not have a robust processing capability and therefore merely displays the exact bitmap sent by the target. Focus navigation is communicated from the controller to the target which then can alter the bitmap to illustrate an updated focus.

  • Patent number: 6584552
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus is characterized in that said apparatus has: inputting means for receiving a packet data which is based on IEEE 1394, and in which signal information for indicating copy right information of an AV data (hereinafter, referred to as EMI) is provided in a header of a packet according to IEEE 1394; and recording and reproducing means for recording and reproducing an AV data and the EMI which are held in the packet data received by said inputting means. Four kinds of EMI are used, and, when an AV data indicating allowance “copy one generation” among them is to be recorded, said recording and reproducing means performs recording while rewriting the EMI to EMI indicating “no more copy.
