  • Publication number: 20220368484
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may select a scrambling sequence to use per symbol to reduce variance in a non-linearity parameter for a power amplifier (PA) output between a data symbol and a pilot symbol based on a PA model for at least one pilot symbol or one or more parameters of the model. The receiving device may indicate a capability to blindly estimate the scrambling sequence the transmitting device selected to the transmitting device. If the transmitting device does not receive the capability message from the receiving device or if the capability message indicates the receiving device is not capable of blind estimation, the transmitting device may indicate the selected scrambling sequence to the receiving device. Otherwise, the transmitting device may not indicate the selected scrambling sequence to the receiving device, and the receiving device may blindly estimate the scrambling sequence.

  • Publication number: 20220368387
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a technique for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The UE implements the technique to detect that a decoding failure of a first multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission, sent by a network entity on a first number of layers, is caused by a rank mismatch. The UE then sends a rank correction request to a network entity. The UE then combines samples from the first MIMO transmission and a second MIMO transmission, sent by the network entity using a space-time code (STC) with a second number of layers in response to the rank correction request, to recover data lost due to the decoding failure.

  • Publication number: 20220360370
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a retransmission protocol that utilizes compressed feedback. Various implementations relate generally to a compressed feedback technique for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ). Upon receiving a compressed feedback value, a sending device may generate a retransmission codeblock. The retransmission codeblock may be derived from multiple codeblocks in a set of codeblocks. A receiving device can use the retransmission codeblock to obtain any failed codeblock in the set of codeblocks based on all other previously decoded codeblocks in the set of codeblocks. Thus, the receiving device does not need to indicate which codeblock in the set failed, but only needs to send a compressed feedback value that indicates which sets of codeblocks have had a single codeblock failure.

  • Publication number: 20220360482
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a wireless communications system, a user equipment (UE) and a base station implement reference signal modulation for conveying feedback information. In some examples, the UE may receive, from the base station, control signaling indicating to the UE to convey feedback information by modulating an uplink reference signal. The UE may receive, from the base station, a set of downlink messages. In some cases, the UE may transmit, to the base station, a set of uplink reference signals in response to receiving the downlink messages, where the set of uplink reference signals may be modulated by the UE to convey the feedback information. In some cases, the uplink reference signal may be a sounding reference signal (SRS) with embedded feedback information.

  • Publication number: 20220353010
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter device may transmit, to a receiver device, an initial message associated with a communication using a first code rate. The transmitter device may receive, from the receiver device, first feedback information indicating that the communication was not successfully decoded by the receiver device. The transmitter device may transmit, to the receiver device based at least in part on the reception of the first feedback information, one or more retransmissions associated with the communication including a first retransmission, wherein the first retransmission includes a first number of bits to lower an effective code rate of the communication to a second code rate. The transmitter device may receive, from the receiver device, second feedback information indicating that the communication was successfully decoded by the receiver device. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Patent number: 11265815
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for power saving by detecting empty symbols. In accordance with some implementation, a UE may determine that a data channel is not allocated to it by determining that there is no beam directed to it and there was no prior resource allocation to it. The UE upon such determination may enter sleep mode until the start of the next scheduling unit. This may result in reduction in power consumption compared to entering sleep mode after demodulating and decoding the control channel.

  • Publication number: 20210360536
Abstract: Aspects of a methods, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for wireless communication at a wireless device are provided herein. The wireless device may receive a configuration for a resource pool for sidelink communication, the resource pool having a plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) including a first set of PRBs that are grouped in one or more sub-channels, each sub-channel having an equal number of PRBs, and a second set of PRBs that are not in the one or more sub-channels having the equal number of PRBs. The apparatus may transmit in the second set of PRBs. The second set of PRBs may not be monitored by a receiving device.

  • Publication number: 20210120560
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may monitor sets of decoding candidates over a search space in each monitoring occasion to detect downlink control transmissions. Such a monitoring process may be resource intensive. To reduce the processing power involved in monitoring the control channel, a UE may measure resources associated with the downlink control channel to obtain a quality metric. The UE may compare the quality metric to one or more thresholds and may perform a decoding process on a set of configured decoding candidates for the downlink control channel based on the comparing. In some cases, if the channel quality is relatively good, the UE may perform a list decoding process using a list size less than a maximum list size or may perform partial data tone processing to reduce the processing complexity for some of the decoding candidates.

  • Patent number: 9130626
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for compensating for transmit I/Q impairments in a digital signal. A frequency domain version of a first one of the components may be scaled at a wireless modem according to a frequency dependent I/Q impairment compensation function to obtain a compensated frequency domain version of the first one of the components. The compensated frequency domain version of the first one of the components may be combined with a frequency domain version of a second one of the components at the wireless modem to produce a compensated frequency domain version of the digital signal. The compensated frequency domain version of the digital signal may be transformed to the time domain at the wireless modem to produce a compensated time domain version of the digital signal.

  • Patent number: 9118512
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for compensating for impairments of a wireless device. In accordance with a disclosed method, a set of equalizer taps for an analog pipeline of the wireless device is determined. A first set of complex filter taps and a second set of complex filter taps are also determined, by modifying the set of equalizer taps according to an estimated imbalance of the analog pipeline of the wireless device. A signal associated with the analog pipeline is processed with a complex filter according to the first set of complex filter taps and the second set of complex filter taps. The processing provides a combined imbalance compensation and equalization of the signal. The complex filter may include a first complex half-filter associated with the first set of complex filter taps and a second complex half-filter associated with the second set of complex filter taps.
