  • Publication number: 20200374941
Abstract: Physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration on new radio unlicensed (NR-U) networks is disclosed. A UE may perform PRACH transmission either with a transmission opportunity (TXOP) or outside of a TXOP. The UE monitors for a control signal from a base station, such as a preamble or common control signal, identifying a TXOP. The UE may obtain an autonomous random access configuration for communications outside of the current TXOP that identifies a random access slot includes a plurality of random access occasions. If the UE fails to detect the control signal, it transmits an autonomous random access signal in a random access occasion corresponding to a beam direction of its location in relation to the base station. Otherwise, upon detection of the control signal and receipt of a trigger signal, the UE may transmit a random access request within the TXOP.

  • Patent number: 10805979
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support communications between a base station and a user equipment (UE) on multiple carriers. A UE may maintain a connection with a base station on a first carrier (e.g., an anchor carrier), and the UE may use a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle on a second carrier. The DRX cycle may include scheduled on-durations during which the UE may monitor the second carrier for signaling from the base station. To reduce the power consumption at the UE associated with repeatedly monitoring scheduled on-durations, the base station may transmit wake-up signaling to the UE on the first carrier to identify the on-durations that include data from the base station. Accordingly, the UE may monitor these on-durations for the data and avoid monitoring other on-durations to limit power consumption.

  • Patent number: 10784999
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses described herein facilitate narrowband communication within the unlicensed frequency spectrum by simultaneously transmitting (e.g., in adjacent channels) a plurality of anchor channels. For example, a base station may simultaneously transmit at least three anchor channels of 180 kHz each so that the 500 kHz minimum bandwidth requirement is satisfied. Furthermore, the techniques and apparatuses described herein provide discovery reference signal (DRS) structures to cause the different types of DRS to be repeated and/or transmitted on different anchor channels, which improves frequency diversity. Also, a synchronization signal of the anchor channels may be used to indicate a configuration of the anchor channels. Thus, synchronization in the NB-IoT-unlicensed (NB-IoT-u) spectrum is enabled, and efficiency is improved over synchronization using a single anchor channel.
