Publication number: 20210045157Abstract: Subband based uplink access for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) is disclosed. A base station performs a listen before talk (LBT) procedure on system allocated subbands of a shared communication channel. The base station determines a first set of candidate subbands that are signaled to a user equipment (UE). The UE performs an LBT procedure on the first set to identify a second set of candidate subbands including the successful LBT subbands of the first set. Aspects of the disclosure provide for managing and refining the subbands for transmissions. A first aspect provides the UE to determine a transmission behavior based on mismatch between the first and second sets. A second aspect provides the first and second sets in handshaking between the base station and UE for refining the eventual transmission set of subbands. A third aspect provides cross-band LBT reporting for further refining subband selection in later slots.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2020Publication date: February 11, 2021Inventors: Jing Lei, Jing Sun, Tamer Kadous

Patent number: 10912129Abstract: Synchronization signal block (SSB) multiplexing and remaining material system information (RMSI) monitoring in new radio unlicensed (NR-U) networks are disclosed. For SSB multiplexing, a user equipment (UE) receives an SSB configuration for a discovery signal detection window having a plurality of communication slots, wherein, based on the SSB configuration, UE identifies random access resource and time and frequency locations to monitor remaining minimum system information (RMSI) configured for each SSB. The UE further receives an SSB transmission indicator that reflects a listen before talk (LBT) result, which it may use with the SSB configuration to map one or more SSB for rate matching in selected slots. The UE can then rate match any data transmissions around the identified SSBs in those identified slots regardless of LBT result. The UE may further leverage the SSB configuration and indication of LBT result to monitor SSB transmissions for control resource set (CORESET) transmissions.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2019Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xiaoxia Zhang, Jing Sun, Tamer Kadous

Patent number: 10873440Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for selecting a time division duplexing (TDD) frame structure for communicating with a user equipment (UE) via a shared radio frequency spectrum in which a listen before talk (LBT) procedure is performed prior to transmitting. A frame based equipment (FBE) frame starting location for FBE frames is determined where the FBE frame starting location is offset from a starting location of the TDD frame structure and spans successive TDD frames. In some cases, the TDD frame structure may be configured such that the UE does not need to perform an LBT procedure, and thus the LBT process may be transparent to the UE, allowing UEs that are not specially configured to operate using an LBT procedure to use the shared radio frequency spectrum.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2019Date of Patent: December 22, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Chih-Hao Liu, Xiaoxia Zhang, Tamer Kadous, Srinivas Yerramalli

Patent number: 10863524Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In systems supporting multiple communication protocol types (e.g., ultra-reliable low-latency communication and enhance mobile broadband communication), a user equipment may implement multiplexing rules for handling overlapping transmissions of different communication protocols. For example, if lower latency data supports multiplexing with higher latency data and a lower latency resource overlaps (either partially or completely) with a higher latency resource, a number of options can be taken to control multiplexing. Similarly, if low latency uplink control information supports multiplexing with a slot-based physical uplink shared channel, and the physical uplink shared channel has its own uplink control information, a number of options can be taken to control multiplexing.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2019Date of Patent: December 8, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Seyed Ali Akbar Fakoorian, Jing Sun, Xiaoxia Zhang, Srinivas Yerramalli, Tamer Kadous
