  • Publication number: 20130321427
Abstract: In a method for generating drawing codes of a picture being drawn, a plurality of drawing elements and a drawing model for each of the drawing elements are defined. Each drawing model includes one or more drawing parameters. When a drawing element is selected and used to draw a picture, parameter values of the selected drawing element are obtained. Drawing parameters of a drawing model of the selected drawing element are replaced by the parameter values of the selected drawing element, to obtain drawing codes corresponding to the selected drawing element. According to a sequence of drawing steps of the picture, drawing codes corresponding to each selected drawing element are integrated into the overall drawing codes of the picture.

  • Publication number: 20130292709
Abstract: An LED device with improved angular color performance has a silicone lens shaped as a portion of a sphere. The lens is molded over an array of LED dies disposed on the upper surface of a substrate. Phosphor particles are disbursed throughout the material used to mold the lens. The distance between farthest apart edges of the LED dies is more than half of the length that the lens extends over the surface of the substrate. The distance from the top of the lens dome to the surface of the substrate is between 57% and 73% of the radius of the sphere. Shaping the lens as the top two thirds of a hemisphere reduces the non-uniformity in the emitted color such that neither of the CIE color coordinates x or y of the color changes more than 0.004 over all emission angles relative to the surface of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8536605
Abstract: Using compression molding to form lenses over LED arrays on a metal core printed circuit board leaves a flash layer of silicone covering the contact pads that are later required to connect the arrays to power. A method for removing the flash layer involves blasting particles of sodium bicarbonate at the flash layer. A nozzle is positioned within thirty millimeters of the top surface of the flash layer. The stream of air that exits from the nozzle is directed towards the top surface at an angle between five and thirty degrees away from normal to the top surface. The particles of sodium bicarbonate are added to the stream of air and then collide into the top surface of the silicone flash layer until the flash layer laterally above the contact pads is removed. The edge of silicone around the cleaned contact pad thereafter contains a trace amount of sodium bicarbonate.

  • Publication number: 20120187430
Abstract: Standardized photon building blocks are packaged in molded interconnect structures to form a variety of LED array products. No electrical conductors pass between the top and bottom surfaces of the substrate upon which LED dies are mounted. Microdots of highly reflective material are jetted onto the top surface. Landing pads on the top surface of the substrate are attached to contact pads disposed on the underside of a lip of the interconnect structure. In a solder reflow process, the photon building blocks self-align within the interconnect structure. Conductors in the interconnect structure are electrically coupled to the LED dies in the photon building blocks through the contact pads and landing pads. Compression molding is used to form lenses over the LED dies and leaves a flash layer of silicone covering the landing pads. The flash layer laterally above the landing pads is removed by blasting particles at the flash layer.

  • Publication number: 20120039073
Abstract: A wide beam angle (diffuse) luminaire with an efficient multi-source radiative emitter array. Embodiments of the luminaire utilize one or more LEDs disposed around a perimeter of a protective casing. The LEDs are angled to emit into an internal cavity defined by the inner surface of the casing. The placement of the LEDs around the perimeter of the device reduces self-blocking and facilitates heat transfer from the LEDs through the casing or another heat sink and into the ambient. Light impinges on the inner surface and is redirected as useful emission. A diffuse reflective coating may be deposited on the inner surface to mix the light before it is emitted.

  • Publication number: 20110227469
Abstract: Lamps and bulbs are disclosed generally comprising different combinations and arrangement of a light source, one or more wavelength conversion materials, regions or layers which are positioned separately or remotely with respect to the light source, and a separate diffusing layer. This arrangement allows for the fabrication of lamps and bulbs that are efficient, reliable and cost effective and can provide an essentially omni-directional emission pattern, even with a light source comprised of a co-planar arrangement of LEDs. Additionally, this arrangement allows aesthetic masking or concealment of the appearance of the conversion regions or layers when the lamp is not illuminated. Some embodiments of the present invention utilize LED chips to provide one or more lighting components instead of providing the components through phosphor conversion. This can provide for lamps that can be operated with lower power and can be manufactured at lower cost.

  • Publication number: 20110228514
Abstract: LED packages, and LED lamps and bulbs, are disclosed that are arranged to minimize the CRI and efficiency losses resulting from the overlap of conversion material emission and excitation spectrum. In different devices having conversion materials with this overlap, the present invention arranges the conversion materials to reduce the likelihood that re-emitted light from a first conversion materials will encounter the second conversion material to minimize the risk of re-absorption. In some embodiments this risk is minimized by different arrangements where there is separation between the two phosphors. In some embodiments this separation results less than 50% of re-emitted light from the one phosphor passing into the phosphor where it risks re-absorption.
