Abstract: Systems and methods for providing next generation television with content shifting and interactive selectability are described. In some examples, image content may be transferred from a television to smaller mobile computing device, and an example-based. visual search may be conducted on a selected portion of the content. Search results may then be provided to the mobile computing, device. In addition, avatar simulation may be undertaken.

Abstract: Disclosed are an intake analysis system and a method thereof comprising an intake sensing device and a cloud computing device. The intake sensing device may be installed in a container containing an ingesta, providing for analyzing a component of the ingesta to generate a detecting signal, and sensing a weight variation of the container having the ingesta therein to generate a weight sensing signal; the cloud computing device receives the detecting signal and weight sensing signal transmitted and calculates a calorie value and an intake value to generate substance ingested information, and compares the calorie value and the intake value. When the calorie value or intake value is greater than a predetermined value respectively, the cloud computing device generates a noticing signal, and transmits the substance ingested information and noticing signal to the intake sensing device, and the intake sensing device displays the substance ingested information and noticing information.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and articles associated with face recognition login, social network and video chat are disclosed herein. In various embodiments, an apparatus may include a networking interface, and a face recognition based controller configured to determine whether a user is watching a television, based on image frames of a video signal generated by a camera. The controller may be further configured to transmit a login request, via the network interface, to a server associated with a social network, on determination that the user is watching the television, to log the user into the social network, and enabling video chat. Other embodiments may be disclosed and/or claimed.

Abstract: An optical recording apparatus includes a traverse, a control circuit board, a shield substrate and an flexible flat cable (FFC). The traverse includes a spindle motor for rotating an optical disc and an optical pickup head for reading and/or writing the optical disc, the optical pickup head moves along a radial direction of the optical disc when reading and/or writing the optical disc. The FFC electrically connects the optical pickup head and the control circuit board and transmits signals between them, and a portion of the FFC adjacent to the second end is bent to facing the shield substrate. The shield substrate includes at least two limiting members, and the at least two limiting members are positioned at two opposite sides of the portion of the FFC facing the shield substrate to enable the portion of the FFC facing the shield substrate to move along the first direction.

Abstract: A video circuit employed in a video apparatus is configured for transmitting a video signal via an interface unit. The video circuit includes a display circuit and a compensation circuit. The display circuit switches the video apparatus into a video input mode in response to a user's operation, and blocks specific component of the video signal received from the interface unit. The compensation circuit adds a predetermined amount of direct current to the video signal.

Abstract: Detection of a facial attribute such as a smile or gender in a human face in an image is performed by embodiments of the present invention in a computationally efficient manner. First, a face in the image is detected to produce a facial image. Facial landmarks are detected in the facial image. The facial image is aligned and normalized based on the detected facial landmarks to produce a normalized facial image. Local features from selected local regions are extracted from the normalized facial image. A facial attribute is predicted in each selected local region by inputting each selected local feature into a weak classifier having a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) structure. Finally, output data is aggregated from each weak classifier component to generate all indication that the facial attribute is detected in the facial image.

Abstract: An extract of Andrographis paniculata extract containing andrographolide, 14-deoxyandrographolide, 14-deoxy-11,12-dehydroandrographotide, neoandrographolide, polysacchorides, and flavanoids. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition containing such an extract and its use for treating inflammatory bowel disease.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to index digital frames. An example method includes identifying channel types associated with a plurality of image frames, splitting each one of the plurality of image frames into a respective color channel based on the identified channel types, applying a local binary pattern to each of the respective color channels to generate a respective pattern number, generating a spatial representation of each respective pattern number to determine transition probabilities for each channel type, and identifying a degree of similarity between the plurality of image frames based on the transition probabilities.

The system may further include a context engine to identify a region of interest including at least a part of the one or more objects of interest, and scale the region of interest within individual image frames to emphasize the objects of interest.

Abstract: A Coriolis mass flowmeter with at least four bent measuring tubes, at least one actuator assembly and at least one sensor assembly, wherein a first measuring tube and a second measuring tube are located in a common first plane and a third measuring tube and a fourth measuring tube are located in a common second plane, wherein the first plane and the second plane run parallel to one another, and wherein all four measuring tubes are joined together in terms of flow on the input side and on the output side with a collector. A Coriolis mass flowmeter for large amounts of flow, which is improved in respect to its measurement accuracy, is implemented in that the geometry and/or the surface characteristics of the measuring tubes are set so that the tube flow resistance of all four measuring tubes is identical.

Abstract: An electronic device capable of audio files with different formats includes a power supply, a switching circuit, an audio control module, an audio output module, and a detecting module. The power supply supplies a first voltage and a second voltage. The detecting module detects whether the format of the audio file is changed. The detecting module generates a first detecting signal within a first predetermined time period from a point in time when the format of the audio file is changed time point, and the switching circuit transmits the first voltage to the audio control module in response to the first detecting signal. The audio control module receives the second voltage and generates a first signal based on the first voltage and the second voltage. The audio output module is disabled from outputting audio signal of the audio file.

Abstract: A Coriolis mass flowmeter with a measuring tube through which a medium can flow, at least one actuator and at least one sensor, wherein the measuring tube is bent between its input and output ends into a first winding and a second winding, the first winding and the second winding merging into one another at a transitional section of the measuring tube. The first winding and the second winding run in parallel winding planes and wherein the first winding and the second winding can be excited to oscillation by the actuator and the oscillations detected by the sensor. The Coriolis mass flowmeter is comparably insensitive to the coupling of external oscillations in that oscillating sections of the first winding and the second winding are bent into a V shape that opens in a direction toward the transitional section of the measuring tube.

Abstract: A Coriolis mass flowmeter having two measuring tubes, wherein two neighboring oscillation node plates are provided on one end of the measuring tube that connect the two measuring tubes to one another and wherein the angle between the planes of both oscillation node plates is determined in such a manner that the vibration of the measuring tubes is minimal up to a predetermined driving force. A method of producing the flowmeter is also disclosed.

Abstract: Video editing methods and systems, including methods and systems to identify video clips having similar visual characteristics. Video clips may correspond to first and second videos, which may include a professional music video and a personal video, respectively. Identified video clips of the personal video may be combined into a new video clip, and music corresponding to visually similar video clips of the music video may be associated with the corresponding video clips of the new video. Video frames of the video clips may be characterized with respect to one or more visual features, which may include one or more of facial and/or body features, salient objects, camera motion, and image quality. Characterizations may be compared between video clips on an incremental basis. Characterization of a music video may implicitly model an underlying correlation between music rhythm and changes in visual appearance.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a front plate, a top plate, and a switch control unit. The front plate defines a receiving hole therein. The switch control unit includes a mounting frame mounted on the front plate, a switch mounted in the mounting frame, a contact element located above the switch, and a control assembly. When the top plate completely covers the front plate, the top plate presses the contact element, and the contact element resiliently presses the switch to turn on the switch. When the top plate is pulled away from the front plate, the switch is turned off. The control assembly includes a first knob rotatably received in the mounting frame. The first knob includes a pressing portion. When the first knob is rotated from a first position to a second position, the pressing portion abuts against the switch to keep the switch on.
