  • Patent number: 5963534
Abstract: A driving device in which when a cartridge is inserted with a correct orientation, a retainer protrusion of a drawing-in member engages a retainer recess of the cartridge, so that a sliding shaft of the drawing-in member slides along a guide surface to draw in the cartridge. When the cartridge is inserted with a reversed orientation, the drawing-in member is pushed sideways, so that the sliding shaft slides along a relief guide portion at the exterior side of the guide plate, causing the drawing-in member to be driven in the X1 direction. Since the drawing-in member is driven along the relief guide portion, locking of the mechanism does not occur. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent locking of a mechanism, which occurs when the cartridge is inserted with a wrong orientation, and the drawing-in member, which is not retained by the cartridge, is driven in the drawing-in direction, in a disk device in which a drawing-in member is used to draw in a cartridge of, for example, a mini-disk.

  • Patent number: 5959950
Abstract: Unlike conventional disk drives, a disk drive of the invention is capable of loading a plurality of different types of disks at the same time, and has the capability of protecting a disk sensitive to contamination, such as a RAM disk, from contamination. A plurality of trays are placed in a disk package which is loaded into a disk drive. Different types of disks may be placed on the respective trays. In the package, there is provided a first locking mechanism for locking all trays. This first locking mechanism can be unlocked by a manual operation. There is also provided a second locking mechanism which locks only those trays on which RAM disks or the like are placed so that the RAM disks are prevented from being taken out. In the main unit of the disk drive, there is provided an unlocking member for unlocking both the first and second locking mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5886961
Abstract: A plurality of trays (T) are set in a disk package loaded into a disk device, and different types of disks are rested on the trays (T). Identification means (30) giving information about the type of a disk is provided on a hook (T7) of each of the trays (7), and detecting means (32) for detecting the information given by the identification means (30) is provided on a drawing lever (18) for drawing out the tray. When the disk package is loaded into the disk device, the types of the disks on the trays (T) can be discriminated by moving and positioning the drawing lever (18) to face the hooks (T7) of the trays (T) successively.

  • Patent number: 5490018
Abstract: An analog reproduced output can be processed by a digital system circuit in a digital and analog data processing apparatus. An analog output reproduced from a medium on which analog signals are recorded is converted into digital signals by an (A/D) analog to digital converter of a digital recording and reproducing system. These signals are divided signals corresponding to predetermined frequency bands by sub-band filters. The signals are input to a (DSP) digital signal processing section and an (ECC) error correction coding section. An frequency characteristic adjustment operation and an interpolation operation are performed digitally under the control of a controller. Then, for example, the signals are converted by a (D/A) digital to analog converter and output.

  • Patent number: 5349479
Abstract: A data transfer method of a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus which makes it unnecessary to repeatedly stop and start a recording operation or a reproducing operation in spite of changes in transfer interval and density of data transmitted between a host computer and the magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus, and which shortens the waiting time of the host computer to a minimum. When data transferred from a host computer is stored in a buffer memory and then transmitted to a rotary head, the number of revolutions of the rotary head and the feeding speed of a magnetic tape are changed by a switch control portion based on the amount of data stored in the buffer memory and the rate at which the amount of data increases or decreases. It is thereby possible to perform continuous recording regardless of the amount and density of the transferred data.

  • Patent number: 5345345
Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided a rotary head type magnetic recording/reproducing unit comprising a drum for receiving in close contact a magnetic tape on its periphery and a pair of magnetic heads arranged on the drum for running slantly on the magnetic tape for recording or reproduction of signals, wherein the span of contact of the drum's periphery and the magnetic tape is greater than that of a signal recording or reproducing operation on the magnetic tape by either of the magnetic heads. With such an arrangement, signal recording or reproducing operations of the unit can be conducted under a condition where the tape and the magnetic head are stably in contact with each other and therefore any distorted or deformed envelope waveforms may be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5136442
Abstract: A cassette loading device of a tape player is equipped with a motor driving capstan and a pinch roller for pressing the tape against the capstan. The power of the capstan motor is transmitted to a power transmission rotator through a driving gear and a clutch gear. The rotating force of the power transmission rotator is then transmitted to the cassette holder driving section through a speed reduction mechanism. Therefore, the cassette holder can be moved and the load or eject of the cassette can be done without complicated motion timing and application of motor for special purpose.

  • Patent number: 4709287
Abstract: A head height adjustment construction in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus with a rotary cylinder for use in a VTR, for example, includes a lower fixed drum, an upper rotary drum axially spaced from and rotatable with respect to the lower fixed drum, the upper rotary drum having a tapered surface slanted upwardly in a radially outward direction thereof, a head attachment plate having one end mounted on the upper rotary drum and supporting a head on an opposite end thereof, and an adjustment screw threaded in the upper rotary drum and held against the head attachment plate. When the height of the head is to be adjusted, the adjustment screw is turned about its own axis for spacing the opposite end of the head attachment plate away from the tapered surface. After the head height has been adjusted, a surface of the head which is held in sliding contact with a magnetic tape is directed upwardly toward a plane in which the upper rotary drum is rotatable.
