  • Patent number: 4961495
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a container in which a mixture of resins having different melting starting temperatures is used as a heat-sealable layer. The heat-sealable layer is heat-sealed at two or more locations under different conditions so that at least one hermetic heat seal and at least one heat seal having easy-to-peel openability are formed to define plural compartments isolated from one another. The compartments can be filled with different materials. These materials are isolated from one another until immediately before use. Upon application, the heat seal having easy-to-peel openability is broken from the outside to permit mixing of the materials. • Patent number: 4842590
Abstract: In a catheter comprising a proximal inner tube having a reinforcing layer applied thereto and a distal inner tube made of a material having different physical properties from those of the proximal inner tube, the proximal and distal inner tubes are axially integrally connected such that the outer surface of the proximal inner tube is substantially smooth and continuous to that of the distal inner tube, and a sheath continuously covers the proximal and distal inner tubes. The catheter is produced by axially integrally joining proximal and distal inner tubes and continuously covering the interconnected tubes with a sheath.

  • Patent number: 4836691
Abstract: A medical bag and method of manufacturing the bag from a thermoplastic resin by irradiating a ferromagnetic heating element which has been prepositioned between the mouth and receiving portions of the bag and which is caused to generate high frequence-induced heat. During subjection of the heating element to a high frequency magnetic field, the mouth portion and receiving portion of the bag melt about the element so that mouth portion, element and receiving portion are bonded together. This technique can also be suitably used for thermoplastic resins, for example, polyolefin resins, to which conventional high-frequency bonding cannot be applied.

  • Patent number: 4682980
Abstract: In general, the confirmation of a puncture in a blood vessel is made through a visual check of flush back of the blood from the blood vessel into a puncture needle assembly. The conventional puncture needle assembly incorporates a membrane filter permeable to air but impermeable to blood, in order to prevent the blood from flooding outside. The conventional puncture needle, however, cannot be used suitably for the puncture of a blood vessel deep in the tissue. In the puncture needle assembly of the invention, an air relief opening is formed in a portion of a puncture needle hub, catheter hub or an end plug attachable to the puncture needle hub or the catheter, hub other than the portion which constitutes a pressing surface on which the thumb of the user is placed to exert a thrust force for puncturing the tissue and the blood vessel, as in the case of ordinary syringes.

  • Patent number: 4673393
Abstract: A medical instrument having a path for receiving a bar-like member and a combination of valves provided in the path. The combination of valves comprises a first disc-like valve having a first slit open only to one of the end faces thereof and a second slit open only to the other of the end faces thereof, the first and second slits crossing each other to form a distance of intersection inside the first valve, and a second disc-like valve disposed in parallel to the first valve and having a slit opening to both end faces thereof. The slit of the second valve crosses the intersection point of the first valve so that the bar-like member passes through the slit of the second valve as well as the intersection of the first valve when it is inserted.

  • Patent number: 4629450
Abstract: An instrument for introducing a catheter into a blood vessel includes an inner needle portion having an inner needle, and a dilator portion having a dilator, the latter including first and second insertion portions. The first insertion portion, which has a comparatively small diameter and a length no less than the distance from a patient's skin to the blood vessel wall, is formed at the tip of the dilator from which a cutting edge at the tip of the inner needle is capable of protruding. The second insertion portion, which has a comparatively large diameter and a length no less than the above length, is smoothly connected to the first insertion portion by a tapered intermediate segment. Also provided is a sheath portion through which a catheter is capable of being passed under liquid-tight conditions.

  • Patent number: 4610665
Abstract: A medical instrument comprises a main body having a path formed therethrough, through which a tubular member is insertable or drawable. A valve body is provided in the path of the main body, maintaining at least a liquid-tight state with the rod-like member, when the path is opened by the rod-like member inserted through the path, and closing the path at least in the liquid-tight state, when the rod-like member is not inserted through the path. The valve body has two end faces. The valve body is formed with a first slit openable in one of the end faces and a second slit openable in the other of the end faces. The first slit and the second slit cross each other in the valve body.In consequence, rod-like members being of widely varied outer diameters are inserted through the path of the main body and held therein in a liquid-tight state to thereby reliably prevent blood leakage. Also, blood flow-out when the rod-like member or members are abruptly withdrawn from the path of the main body is reliably prevented.

  • Patent number: 4565545
Abstract: Since a typical catheter insertion device is used for percutaneous insertion of a catheter into an artery or a vein located in a deep part of a tissue, it is necessary to secure a sufficient lumen for introducing the catheter while alleviating pain inflicted on the patient when the catheter insertion device punctures the artery or the vein. The catheter insertion device of the invention has a tapered portion formed in the vicinity of a beveled surface of an inner needle in order to realize both necessary functions. Accordingly, it is possible to decrease the size of the incision in the tissue because it is formed by the beveled surface of the tapered needle point with a smaller diameter, and the desired objects can be accomplished by means of an elastic insertion of the catheter into the smaller incision and, at the same time, bleeding from the incision can be minimized.
