Patent number: 7366565Abstract: In an exercise machine, when a measurement starts, an electrocardiographic signal is detected by an electrocardiographic sensor 1 (ST33), a load drive is started (ST4), and heartbeat rate intervals of the electrocardiographic signal are sequentially obtained. A fluctuation of heartbeat rate intervals PI(n) % is obtained from a calculation formula in which the RR interval RR(n+1) of the current heartbeat is subtracted from the RR interval RR(n) of the previous heartbeat, which is then divided by RR(n) and multiplied by 100% (ST5). Entropy is calculated from 128 pieces of such PI (ST6). From the change of the entropy under the gradually increasing load (ST8), a minimum point of the entropy is obtained, which point is designated as an anaerobic threshold point (ST7). The load of the exercise machine is controlled employing this anaerobic threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2002Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Omron Healthcare Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshikazu Shiga, Tatsuya Kobayashi, Hiromi Matsumoto, Manabu Yoshimura

Publication number: 20050283087Abstract: A sensor unit is brought into contact with a surface of a living body to detect a pulse wave of an artery directly below. A CPU extracts a characteristic point of the pulse wave detected and obtains a second systolic component in the pulse wave using the characteristic point extracted. Then, a variation with time in a systolic blood pressure of a central artery of the living body is estimated using the second systolic component obtained, and an estimated variation with time in the systolic blood pressure is displayed on a display portion. For estimation of the systolic blood pressure, arithmetic with a linear transformation is applied using the second systolic component obtained and a blood pressure of a peripheral artery which is measured beforehand with an electronic sphygmomanometer.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2005Publication date: December 22, 2005Applicant: OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Takazawa, Hironori Satoh, Yoshinori Miyawaki, Tatsuya Kobayashi, Shogo Sawada

Publication number: 20050107717Abstract: A visceral fat area of a subject is calculated based on an equation using as variables a sex of the subject, and an electric impedance ratio between the longitudinal width of the abdomen and the transversal width of the abdomen of the subject. As an example of the equation, let the visceral fat area (cm2) be VFA and the longitudinal-transversal impedance ratio of the abdomen be R1, then VFA=a1+b1×R1 (where a1 and b1 are constants). A visceral fat area of the subject is also calculated based on an equation using abdomen circumference as an additional variable. As an example of the equation, let the abdomen circumference (cm) be W and the longitudinal-transversal impedance ratio of the abdomen be R4, then VFA=W×(a4+b4×R4)+c4 (where a4, b4 and c4 are constants) or VFA=W2×(?4+?4×R4)+?4 (where ?4, ?4 and ?4 are constants). The calculated visceral fat area is compared with the reference value, and the comparison results are outputted.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2004Publication date: May 19, 2005Applicant: OMRON HEALTHCARE Co., Ltd,Inventors: Koji Yamamoto, Tatsuya Kobayashi

Publication number: 20050090760Abstract: The electrode supporting portion 11 is formed of the base 12 attached to the belt and the electrode portion 13 having the electrode 130. The pillar portion 132 of the electrode portion 13 is inserted into the hole 122 formed through the cover 121, and is oscillatably supported via the gap formed between the outer peripheral surface of the pillar portion 132 and the inner peripheral edge of the hole 122. There is provided the coiled spring 14 disposed between the hollow inside of the pillar portion 132 and the bottom plate 124, and the pressure sensing element 15 is provided in the center of the bottom plate 124 which receives the load of the end portion of the spring 14. The expansion and contraction of the spring 14 and the oscillation of the electrode portion 13 allows the electrode 130 to follow the movement of the body surface, thereby reducing changes in the contact condition between the electrode 130 and the subject's body.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2004Publication date: April 28, 2005Applicant: OMRON HEALTHCARE Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tatsuya Kobayashi
