  • Patent number: 6238488
Abstract: A cleaning gas is supplied into a processing chamber defined by a processing vessel included in a film forming system, and the temperature of a gas contained in the processing vessel is measured continuously for a predetermined time by a gas temperature measuring means disposed in the processing vessel. The temperature measured by the gas temperature measuring means rises gradually while the cleaning gas flowing through the processing chamber is reacting with an unnecessary film deposited on the surfaces of the processing vessel. A cleaning operation terminating point is determined on the basis of the time-varying measured temperature of the gas measured by the gas temperature measuring means. Preferably, the cleaning operation terminating point determining means determines that the cleaning operation is to be terminated at a time point a certain time after the variation of the measured temperature past a peak.

  • Patent number: 6223497
Abstract: A window for automobiles or the like, including a frame member which is composed of a thermoplastic synthetic resin material and formed integrally with a window plate. The frame member includes a substantially U-shaped cross-sectional portion formed of lip and web sections which are spaced from and opposed to each other on outer and rear surfaces of the window plate, respectively, and connected with each other by a bridge section having a continuous hollow inner space therein. The frame member is formed by injecting into a mold cavity a relatively small amount, as compared with the volume of the mold cavity, of molten thermoplastic synthetic resin material, and by injecting compressed gas into the resin material to urge the resin material against inner surfaces of the mold defining the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6096402
Abstract: An elongate composite member suitable for a vehicle ornamental member comprises an elongate shaped body having a common cross-section part with a longitudinally constant cross-sectional shape, and a varying cross-section part with a longitudinally varying cross-sectional shape. A resin part is formed by extrusion molding along the varying cross-section part to continuously extend in the longitudinal direction, thereby realizing an excellent overall appearance. Such elongate composite members can be readily and continuously manufactured basically with an extrusion molding process, wherein the elongate shaped body is continuously and longitudinally fed into an extrusion die assembly comprising a stationary die and the movable die, through which the common cross-section part and the varying cross-section part are respectively passed in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5926930
Abstract: An apparatus producing an elongated member having a main body portion and terminal portions extending form ends thereof includes bending an elongated strip between circumferential faces of first forming rolls and second forming rolls having parallel central rotational axes. The circumferential faces of the first forming rolls include annular main body portion bending sections that form the main body portion in the strip and adjacent transition portion bending sections that form adjacent transition portions in the strip, thereby forming an intermediate stage elongated member. The transition portions have a cross-section that changes continuously from the annular cross-section of the main body portion to a different cross-section of the terminal portions.

  • Patent number: 5437131
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a molding member, for instance for automobile front window plates, as well as a method of manufacturing such molding members. The molding member has a lip section in the form of a ridge which extends throughout the entire length. The lip section bears against the surface of the window plate along the upper portion to realize a flush outer surface between the upper edge of the window plate and the body panel, but is spaced therefrom along the side portions to define a weir. The weir can be formed by deforming a predetermined location of the ridge, and prevents flow of the rain water across the molding member to preserve the driver's or passenger's sight through an adjacent side window.

  • Patent number: 5257450
Abstract: A molding member includes an elongate pre-shaped main body of initially constant cross-section, with upper and side portions to continuously extend along respective edges of an automobile windshield plate. The main body covers a gap between the windshield plate and an automobile body panel, and has a reference point which is more spaced from the outer surface of the windshield plate along the side portion than along the upper portion. A lip section of the main body can be maintained in contact with the outer surface of the windshield plate along the upper portion with a first angle, and spaced therefrom along the side portion with a second, less steep angle. A weir of a refined appearance, with desired cross-sectional area or height is defined along the side portion, between the windshield plate and the lip section, and prevents water on the windshield plate from flowing across the molding member.

  • Patent number: 5197243
Abstract: A window for automobiles or the like includes a window plate and an integral frame member along at least one edge of the window plate. The window is manufactured by preparing a window plate and a pre-shaped frame body which comprises a main portion and a surface layer covering an outer side of the main portion. The main portion of the pre-shaped frame body is composed of a thermoplastic synthetic resin material having a relatively high dielectric loss and containing a heat foamable agent therein. The surface layer is composed of a non-foamable thermoplastic synthetic resin material. The pre-shaped frame body is subjected to a dielectric heating in a mold, to cause the foamable agent in the main portion of the pre-shaped frame body to expand in the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 5178919
Abstract: An elongate finisher member for automotive vehicles or the like, such as a lower window molding member, includes an elongate main body of predetermined length and cross-section. The main body has a mount portion with openings for passing fasteners to secure the finisher member to a vehicle body. The finisher member further includes a flap element which extends longitudinally along the main body. The flap element has a first end region integrally connected to the main body, and a second end region which is movable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position of the second end region, the flap element maintains the openings in the mount portion accessible from outside to facilitate insertion of fasteners into the openings. In the closed position of the second end region, the flap element covers the mount portion and maintains the openings and fasteners invisible from outside to provide a refined appearance.
