  • Patent number: 4992620
Abstract: Trialkyl arsines are removed from fluids, in particular gases, by contacting with a solid sorbent material containing at least one manganese oxide (preferably MnO.sub.2) and at least one Group IB metal oxide (preferably CuO). In a preferred feature, the used solid sorbent material is regenerated by oxidizing treatment, washing with an aqueous liquid, and drying.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 21, 1989
Date of Patent: February 12, 1991
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Gerhard P. Nowack, Marvin M. Johnson, Joseph B. Cross, Patricia A. Tooley, Ted H. Cymbaluk
  • Patent number: 4849576
Abstract: In a process for isomerizing monoolefins having a terminal double bond (in particular the isomerization of butene-1 to butene-2) in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst (in particular an alumina-supported Pd catalyst) which is contaminated by impurities in the monoolefin containing feed, the improvement comprises pretreating the feed with a solid material comprising tin oxide and a refractory support material (in particular alumina).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 1988
Date of Patent: July 18, 1989
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Gerhard P. Nowack, Marvin M. Johnson, Ted H. Cymbaluk
  • Patent number: 4789530
Abstract: A process for the preferential absorption of H.sub.2 S from a gas which contains H.sub.2 S and CO.sub.2 comprises contacting of the gas with a sorbent solution comprising alkali metal ethylenediaminetetraacetate and/or alkali metal nitrilotriacetate, in the substantial absence of oxidizing agents which can oxidize H.sub.2 S.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1987
Date of Patent: December 6, 1988
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Marvin M. Johnson, Ted H. Cymbaluk, Gerhard P. Nowack
