  • Publication number: 20140096883
Abstract: A tire mold is provided with a groove-like saw cut in an area of a tire molding surface which comes into contact with a side surface of a tire. The saw cut comprises a pair of circumferential saw cuts arranged to be spaced in a tire diametrical direction, a grid-like saw cut which is expanded between the pair of circumferential saw cuts, and a plurality of frame-like saw cuts which are dotted between the pair of circumferential saw cuts. The frame-like saw cuts fringe a closed area which is wider than a smooth area defined by the grid-like saw cut. The grid-like saw cut surrounds the frame-like saw cuts to prevent the frame-like saw cuts from coming into contact with each other. The frame-like saw cuts are coupled to each other via the grid-like saw cut.

  • Publication number: 20130269845
Abstract: A set of pneumatic tires that are mounted on a vehicle such as a compact or subcompact car, and to an arrangement of mounting the pneumatic tires on the vehicle, which enable omitting of tire rotation without adversely affecting productivity and performances of the tires. Dimensions, shaping and contour as well as tread pattern of the tires for the drive wheel are identical or substantially identical with those for the non-drive wheels. And, wear resistance of the tires for the non-drive wheels is lower than that for the drive wheels due to discrepancy in rubber compositions for forming tire treads between the tires for drive and non-drive wheels. The wear resistance may be defined as a mileage per 1mm wear in depth direction of grooves on the tire tread around its center line.

  • Patent number: 8544513
Abstract: A pneumatic tire has a tread pattern including a plurality of main grooves extending along a tire circumferential direction, and a shoulder land portion constructed by a rib or a block row formed in an outer side in a tire width direction of the main groove positioned in an outermost side. A circumferential sipe is provided in each of the shoulder land portions in both sides in the tire width direction. The number of the circumferential sipes provided in the shoulder land portion in a vehicle inner side is larger than the number of the circumferential sipes provided in the shoulder land portion in a vehicle outer side.

  • Patent number: 8459320
Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises grooves 1 to 3 formed in a tread and land portions 4 each having an acute angle portion 5 formed by the grooves 2 and 3. The acute angle portion 5 is chamfered by a plurality of chamfered surfaces 11 and 12 to form into a step shape by the chamfered surfaces 11 and 12 and a connecting surface 21 that connects the adjacent chamfered surfaces 11 and 12. Furthermore, from one sidewall to the other sidewall of the acute angle portion 5 at an end 6 of the acute angle portion 5, a height H1 of the chamfered surface 11 and a height H2 of the chamfered surface 12 are gradually decreased while a length L1 of the chamfered surface 11 and a length L2 of the chamfered surface 12 are gradually increased.

  • Patent number: 8439094
Abstract: The present invention provides a pneumatic tire that can exhibit high ice performance throughout a period of use of the tire, and can reduce a rejection rate without complicating production of the tire. The pneumatic tire includes: a plurality of land portions 4 partitioned by grooves 2 and 3 and formed in a tread surface 1a; and a sipe 5 formed in each of the land portions 4, wherein a plurality of first protrusions 7 are formed on only one of sipe inner wall surfaces 6 and 6 opposed to each other in the sipe 5, each of the first protrusions 7 continuing in a tire depth direction from the tread surface 1a to a sipe bottom 8 and protruding toward an opposite sipe inner wall surface, the first protrusion 7 is tapered toward the opposite sipe inner wall surface, a narrow portion 7a is provided between the tread surface 1a and the sipe bottom 8, and a second protrusion 9 protruding toward the opposite sipe inner wall surface is formed between narrow portions 7a of adjacent first protrusions.

  • Patent number: 8307867
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic tire capable of ensuring both of the ice braking performance and the ice turning performance while increasing the dry steering stability performance. To achieve the above object, a sipe extending in a width direction of the tire is formed a land portion, the sipe having: pluralities of wide portions each having an inclined plane that begins from the tread surface of a road surface, and terminates in the half way of a sipe wall while inclining so that a sipe width decreases toward the groove bottom of the sipe, and a pair of side faces connecting the inclined plane and the sipe wall therebetween, wherein the pluralities of wide portions are located alternately on both sipe walls along a longitudinal direction of the sipe.

  • Patent number: 8181682
Abstract: In a tire, a phase difference L1 of transverse grooves 2 is within 25% of the length L of blocks 3, the projected portions 11 are alternately on both sidewalls 10, L2 of the portion 11 is 20% to 45% of L, and in the cross-section of the width direction of the main groove 1, the edge 15 of the portion 11 at the groove bottom is more of a sidewall 10 side than a center line 19 of the groove 1, the outline of the portion 11 is at least on a virtual surface 17 that connects the edge 13 of the groove 1 at the tread surface and the edge 15. The tire also has one or a plurality of sub-projected portions 21, 22 projected from the surface 17.
