    Abstract: A method for growing an epitaxial layer of a group II-VI tenary or quaternary compound on a substrate. In particular a HgCdTe semiconductor layer is grown on a substrate such as sapphire which does not interdiffuse with the materials in the semiconductor layer. Initially a crystalline CdTe semiconductor layer is formed on the substrate and then the substrate with the CdTe layer thereon is placed into an enclosure along with a Hg-Cd-Te source that is rich in Te. The substrate and the source are then heated so as to establish three-phase equilibrium conditions in the enclosure whereby vapors from the source are transported to the CdTe layer and the latter is converted into a ternary semiconductor compound having the composition Hg.sub.1-x Cd.sub.x Te. The substrate with the Hg.sub.1-x Cd.sub.x Te epitaxial layer thereon is useful as a sensing device.

    Abstract: A method of growing a mixed compound semiconductor layer comprises the following steps of: providing a reaction chamber comprising a rotatable substrate stage, a plurality of nozzles aligned in a line, the nozzle being arranged vertical to a substrate surface, and a mechanism for moving the substrate stage at least in the nozzle alignment direction and parallel to the substrate surface; disposing the substrate on the substrate stage which is rotated around its axis; flowing a mixed source gas into the reaction chamber through the nozzles, thereby a flow rate of the most reactive gas in the mixed source gas flowing through each nozzle being controlled to increase depending on a distance between the center axis of the substrate rotation and the nozzle; and heating the substrate. An apparatus for applying the above method comprises a particular feature for moving the substrate stage.

    Abstract: A charging device includes a charging member contactable to a member to be charged. A bias source includes an AC source and a DC source and is effective to apply a bias voltage to the charging member. The bias voltage is provided by a superposing a constant current controlled AC voltage and a constant voltage controlled DC voltage. When a DC voltage is applied between the charging member and the member to be charged, the following equation is satisfied..vertline.(applied voltage V)-(charge voltage V.sub.D of the member to be charged).vertline.=.vertline.(charge starting voltage V.sub.TH).vertline..The charge starting voltage is a DC voltage at a level which the member to be charged starts charging when only a DC voltage is applied between the member to be charged and the charging member. When the above relationship is used in the AC voltage application, the charge voltage V.sub.D oscillates in the charge region with a center of DC voltage V.sub.DC.

    Abstract: A seat back structure for vehicle seat which includes a separated mat member received into a recessed area in the seat back body which incorporates a male latch member formed by being punched out from a part of a plate frame provided in the seat back so as to project outwardly for latching engagement by a female member attached to a separate mat, and that the female latch member has a width greater than an opening defined in the punched-out part of the plate frame to thereby avoid any direct contact of the male member with the edges of the opening, to thus suppresses the noise between the two latch members. This problem occurs in these types of seats normally as an occupant leans back in the seat and there is a relative movement between the separate mat member and the vehicle seat. The purpose of the invention is to suppress or avoid noise because of relative movement between the two latch members.

    Abstract: A bank note handling apparatus of a circulating type utilizes bank notes deposited by customers as payable bank notes. The following devices are provided in the form of a loop in a conveying passage downstream from a paying-in and paying-out device for use in depositing or withdrawing bank notes by customers: bank note stacking devices for stacking circulated bank notes; a first discriminating device for discriminating bank notes; a bank note receiving device for receiving bank notes that are not to be circulated; a second discriminating device for discriminating bank notes; a device for properly arranging the obverse and reverse sides of bank notes; and a temporary receiving device for temporarily receiving bank notes to be deposited or withdrawn. Hence, the conveying passages for the paying-in and paying-out device and the respective stacking devices are shortened, reducing the processing time.

In order to increase the depth dimension of a seat cushion, a rearwardly curved reinforcing rod is welded to the lower portion of an inverted U-shaped frame forming the seat, and the shape holding portions of a cushion member thicker than the turned-back portions thereof covering the upper portion of the frame are applied against the frame with the rod welded thereto. The outer surfaces of the shape holding portions are arranged to form the same plane with the outer surfaces of the turned-back portions, so that the right and left corners of the rear portion of the seat back can be formed square.

Accordingly, it is possible to change the focus position for the recording layer of the optical disk by the objective lens of the optical head during recording and reproducing information. Also, it is possible to set it at a position where the bit error rate is smallest and has a wider margin for the shaft of the adjust position.

    Abstract: A structure of a lumbar support portion of a seat back of an automotive seat is disclosed. In a cushion member formed of foam material or in the portion thereof corresponding to the lumbar support portion, there is provided a block member embedded when the cushion member is formed by a mold. The block member comprises an impreganted portion where a foam solution for forming the cushion member is impregnated when the cushion member is foamed and is hardened afterwards, and a soft non-impregnated portion where the cushion member forming foam solution is not impregnated. A body pressure distribution is obtained in which the pressure in the impregnated portion is the greatest and the remaining pressures existing upwardly and downwardly of the greatest pressure are gradually decreased as they recede from the impregnated portion, resulting in the improved tuning of the seat.
