  • Publication number: 20180368098
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may detect a collision of paging messages for a first subscription and a second subscription of the wireless device during a paging processing duration, the first receive chain including at least one antenna path. The wireless device may determine that, in a connected mode, it is configured to operate a second receive chain with one or more additional antenna paths, and may allocate, for a subsequent instance of the paging processing duration, the first subscription to one of the first receive chain or the second receive chain, and the second subscription to the other of the first receive chain or the second receive chain. The wireless device may monitor, during the subsequent instance of the paging processing duration, for a first paging message and a second paging message using the first and second receive chains.

  • Patent number: 10085181
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium that is able to avoid ping pong mobility when a redirection procedure fails. The apparatus may attempt to perform a redirection procedure from a first RAT to a target frequency of a second RAT. The apparatus may receive a redirection failure notification indicating that the target frequency of the second RAT is unavailable. The apparatus may refrain from initiating a reselection procedure to the target frequency of the second RAT for a predetermined time period. The apparatus may deprioritize the target frequency of the second RAT for the predetermined time period when the target frequency of the second RAT is unavailable and is present in an SIB received from the neighbor cell. The apparatus may generate a list of banned frequencies that includes the target frequency of the second RAT when the target frequency of the second RAT is unavailable.

  • Patent number: 9961600
Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to using antenna-switched diversity (ASDIV) in wireless communications. A serving node can be communicated with using a serving radio access technology (RAT) and based on an ASDIV configuration, wherein the ASDIV configuration defines an antenna switching configuration including a state of one or more switches in an ASDIV switch group for switching between one or more antennas for the communicating based on sensing one or more parameters of the communicating. It can be determined whether a target RAT supports operating using a same ASDIV switch group as the serving RAT. A target node can be communicated with using the target RAT and based on the ASDIV configuration where the target RAT operates using the same ASDIV switch group as the serving RAT.

  • Patent number: 9807663
Abstract: When a user equipment performs inter-cell measurement, it may desire to measure signal quality and signal level of a source radio access technology (RAT) cell and a target cell. The signal quality measurement may be Squal and the signal level measurement may be Srxlev. Because Squal is not defined for TD-SCDMA, a new measurement criteria is defined to allow proper comparison of source RAT cell measurements with target RAT cell measurements when a user equipment is considering switching to a target cell.

  • Publication number: 20170127439
Abstract: Various embodiments may include methods for handling collisions between a first subscription and a second subscription of a wireless communication device. In various embodiments, a processor of the wireless communication device may determine whether there are persistent collisions between periodic paging wake-ups on the first subscription and periodic inter-RAT measurements on the second subscription. When persistent collisions are detected, the time for performing each inter-RAT measurement on the second subscription may be extended sufficient to enable completing inter-RAT measurements on the second subscription. The amount by which the time for performing inter-RAT measurements is extended may depend upon the timing and duration of the persistent collisions.

  • Patent number: 9516694
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for inter radio access technology (IRAT) cell reselection. For example, the method may include identifying that a user equipment (UE) in an idle or a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode is camped on a cell of a first RAT, determining that the cell the UE is camped on is not broadcasting any neighbor cell of a second RAT, scanning for one or more frequencies of the second RAT based on the determination, and triggering a cell reselection to a cell of the second RAT, wherein the cell of the second RAT is associated with a frequency identified during the scanning. As such, an autonomous IRAT cell reselection may be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20160338077
Abstract: For a user equipment in a transmitter sharing dual subscriber identity module (SIM) dual active subscriptions (DSDA) mode, a first subscription of a first radio access technology (RAT) in a packet switched data call in general has a lower priority than a second subscription in an active voice call in a second RAT. As a result of this default high priority assigned to the active voice call, the first subscription may experience long delay, low throughput or in some cases radio link failure due to long starvations. A method for wireless communication includes detecting whether an uplink transmission within a frame of the second RAT overlaps at least one time slot of the first RAT. The method also includes prioritizing data of the first RAT by blanking the frame of the second RAT when a number of overlapping slots is above a threshold.

  • Patent number: 9462553
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) prioritizes searches and/or measurements of neighbor cells/frequencies based on a level of mobility of a UE. In one instance, the UE identifies a priority of a layer of a radio access technology (RAT) to be measured or searched and identifies a level of mobility of the UE. A sensor module of the UE may determine the level of mobility of the UE and generate an indication corresponding to the level of mobility of the UE. The UE prioritizes a periodicity of interlayer search and/or measurement based on the priority of the layer to be measured and the level of the mobility of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20160183192
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) controls power consumption of the UE based on mobility information and channel conditions experienced by the UE. In one instance, the UE determines its level of mobility based on a Doppler frequency spread of received communications. The UE disables a motion sensor when the level of mobility is above a first threshold. The UE then controls the communications based on the motion sensor and channel conditions experienced by the UE when the level of mobility is below the first threshold.

  • Publication number: 20160135114
Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to throttling packet-switched (PS) call establishment in wireless communications. A circuit-switched (CS) call can be conducted by using a first radio access technology (RAT). A cell update (CU) procedure for a PS call using a second RAT can be detected as due to one or more conditions. A cause for the one or more conditions can be determined based on one or more parameters related to a transmitter or receiver.

  • Publication number: 20160134317
Abstract: Methods and devices for implementing dynamic receive mode management to improve data throughput and paging performance on a multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) wireless communication device may include detecting, on a protocol stack associated with a first SIM, an active communication in a first network, detecting, on a protocol stack associated with a second SIM, an idle mode paging cycle in a second network, prompting entry into a selected dual receive mode on the shared RF resource, and monitoring at least one performance metric for the idle mode paging cycle associated with the second SIM while in the dual receive mode. Based on the monitored performance metric while in the dual receive mode, the wireless communication device may determine whether paging performance is degraded for the second SIM, and if so, trigger entry into a fallback mode on the shared RF resource.
