  • Publication number: 20030192573
Abstract: A floor care machine that includes a deck having a motor, a rotatable floor care element for engaging a floor surface, and a handle apparatus pivotally mounted to the deck is provided. Additionally, there are first and second sets of wheels toward the rear of the deck and on opposite sides of handle apparatus pivot attachment points. In addition to the attachment points, the handle apparatus and the deck are coupled together by a rigid handle link which is pivotally attached to the deck at one end and pivotally attached to the handle apparatus at the other end. The handle link communicates deck pivot forces between the deck and the handle apparatus, and in particular, communicates such forces resulting from a compressing or decompressing of a compressible component provided along the length of the handle apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20030192605
Abstract: A valve assembly comprising a rotary closure element which defines an axis of rotation and is selectively movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position. Mounted to and movable with the rotary closure element is an impedance assembly. The impedance assembly defines an inflow end and an outflow end, and comprises a plurality of tortuous passageways which extend from the inflow end to the outflow end. Also fully or partially defined by the impedance assembly is an enlarged flow opening which extends from the inflow end to the outflow end. The tortuous passageways and the flow opening are oriented relative to each other such that a portion of a flow through the valve assembly is directed into the tortuous passageways and a portion of the flow is directed through the flow opening when the closure element is in the fully open position.

  • Publication number: 20030195466
Abstract: A system for controlling patient temperature uses a central venous line catheter having axially spaced distal and proximal heat exchange balloons. The central venous line catheter is provided with one or more lumens for providing access to the central blood supply of the patient, and with additional lumens for communicating heat exchange fluid to the balloons. Heat exchange fluid temperature is controlled through a feed back loop in which patient temperature is sensed and used to control a temperature control unit comprising a heating device and/or a cooling device in heat exchange relationship with the heat exchange fluid. A tubing set transports the heat exchange fluid between the central venous line and the temperature control unit, with a pump serving to circulate the fluid in a closed fluid circuit in the system.

  • Publication number: 20030195564
Abstract: A bone anchor and methods for using same to secure connective tissue, such as tendons, to bone are disclosed which permit a suture attachment that lies entirely beneath the cortical bone surface. The bone anchor of the invention incorporates a deformable body that creates an increased anchor body diameter after it is inserted into the cancellous bone and deployed beneath the cortical surface of the bone. The increased body diameter, by virtue of its intrinsic geometry, creates both axial and rotational fixation of the bone anchor or suture fixation point.

  • Publication number: 20030191814
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method and apparatus that allow for personalization of services provided to wireless-device users. The portal server is communicatively coupled with at least one wireless network for sending and receiving communications over the wireless network. The portal server is also communicatively coupled to service providers for providing content to wireless-network users over channels of the portal server. An interface is provided that allows for communicating with service providers. Questions are specified that can be used for obtaining information about wireless-device users. Upon receiving a request from a service provider that includes at least one question and that identifies a wireless-device user, a response to the question is determined by the wireless portal server. The response is then sent to the requesting service provider.

  • Patent number: 6630273
Abstract: A process for fabricating a photolithograpic mask by etching a silicon layer and then forming an absorbent silicide. A protective oxide layer is sputtered on a substrate and is then covered by a layer of silicon. Silicon members and reflective regions are formed from the layer of silicon. Defects in the silicon members are repaired. A layer of nickel is deposited over the silicon members and the reflective regions. The silicon members are converted into an absorbent silicide at a low temperature. The remaining metal and the protective oxide layers are removed resulting in a photolithograpic mask.

  • Patent number: 6631157
Abstract: A multi-clock matched filter for receiving signals with multipath. The signals may be modulated with a spread-spectrum spreading sequence, or other analog or digital signal. A number of signal registers store digital samples of the received signal. The gating of digital samples into each of the signal registers is controlled by a separate clock timing. The timing sequence may be derived from a common clock. A multiplexer sequentially selects each of the signal registers, and passes the respective content of each signal register to a matched filter. A number of delay-locked-loop circuits track each of the multipath signals, and generate the timing sequence for gating signal registers.
