  • Publication number: 20030185153
Abstract: Touting is one of the key issues in networks for communication of data. Conventionally, the optimization of the routing for a particular network is achieved by improving/changing/expanding the routing protocol. In order to optimize the routing of data networks without varying existing routing protocols, the present invention provides a method and a system for optimizing the routing of data to be communicated in a network. In particular, the invention achieves an improved control for routing data traffic in a network by a minimization of link costs between nodes of the network.

  • Publication number: 20030181036
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention described herein reduce contact resistance to a silicon-containing material using a first refractory metal material overlying the silicon-containing material and a second refractory metal material overlying the first refractory metal material. Each refractory metal material is a conductive material containing a refractory metal and an impurity. The first refractory metal material is a metal-rich material, containing a level of its impurity at less than a stoichiometric level. The second refractory metal material has a lower affinity for the impurities than does the first refractory metal material. The second refractory metal material can thus serve as an impurity donor during an anneal or other exposure to heat.

  • Publication number: 20030179500
Abstract: A spin valve sensor in a read head has a spacer layer which is located between a self-pinned AP pinned layer structure and a free layer structure. The free layer structure is longitudinally stabilized by first and second hard bias layers which abut first and second side surfaces of the spin valve sensor. The AP pinned layer structure has an antiparallel coupling layer (APC) which is located between first and second AP pinned layers (AP1) and (AP2). The invention employs a preferential setting of the magnetic moments of the AP pinned layers by applying a field at an acute angle to the head surface in a plane parallel to the major planes of the layers of the sensor. The preferential setting sets a proper polarity of each AP pinned layer, which polarity conforms to processing circuitry employed with the spin valve sensor.

  • Publication number: 20030179812
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods that facilitate compensating for intersymbol interference (e.g. due to non-nyquist filtering) in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems (e.g., IS 95 and IS2000 systems). The subject invention employs equalization filters (e.g., T-spaced equalizers) at fingers of a RAKE receiver. By effecting such equalization filtering at a downstream point in a receiving system, e.g., at the fingers of the RAKE receiver, the filters can be run so as to operate at lower rates as compared to conventional systems where filtering is effected upstream where time is not necessarily known thus requiring equalization filters to operate at significantly faster rates (e.g., 2× or 4× expected chip rate). Accordingly, as compared to conventional systems where the matching filters often are of substantial complexity (e.g., >80 taps) the present invention provides for less complex equalization filters thereby reducing overall system complexity and cost.

  • Publication number: 20030182332
Abstract: A system and method for designating and deleting expired files includes a means for storing expiration dates along with file identification data maintained by the file system. An earliest expiration date is stored in data maintained by the file system pertaining to each directory. In this manner, a check of the directory data indicates whether one or more expired files exist in the directory. The system date is compared to the earliest expiration date for a directory, for example when a “list contents of directory” command is received. If the earliest expiration date is earlier than the system date then a comparison is made with the files in the directory and individual files with expiration dates earlier than the current date are deleted. The earliest expiration date is then update to the correspond to the next earliest expiration date falling after the current date.

  • Publication number: 20030173667
Abstract: A bond pad (10) has a probe region (14) and a wire bond region (12) that are substantially non-overlapping. In one embodiment, the bond pad (10) is connected to a final metal layer pad (16) and extends over an interconnect region (24). The bond pad (10) is formed from aluminum and the final metal layer pad (16) is formed from copper. Separating the probe region (14) from the wire bond region (12) prevents the final metal layer pad (16) from being damaged by probe testing, allowing for more reliable wire bonds. In an application requiring very fine pitch between bond pads, the probe regions (14) and active regions (12) of a plurality of bond pads formed in a line may be staggered to increase the distance between the probe regions (14). In addition, forming the bond pads (10) over the interconnect region (24) reduces the size of the integrated circuit.

  • Publication number: 20030173668
Abstract: A bond pad (200) has a first wire bond region (202) and a second wire bond region (204). In one embodiment, the first wire bond region (202) extends over a passivation layer (18). In an alternate embodiment, a bond pad (300) has a probe region (302), a first wire bond region (304), and a second wire bond region (306). In one embodiment, the probe region (302) and the wire bond region (304) extend over a passivation layer (18). The bond pads may have any number of wire bond and probe regions and in any configuration. The ability for the bond pads to have multiple wire bond regions allows for multiple wire connections to a single bond pad, such as in multi-chip packages. The ability for the bond pads to extend over the passivation layer also allows for reduced integrated circuit die area.

  • Publication number: 20030176396
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to hybrid organic-inorganic adsorbents for decontamination of fluids. Bridged poysilsesquioxanes are a family of hybrid organic-inorganic materials prepared by sol-gel processing of monomers that contain a variable organic bridging group and two or more trifunctional silyl groups. Specifically, the present invention relates to dipropylenedisulfide-co-phenylene-bridged polysilsesquioxane compositions, methods of making dipropylenedisulfide-co-phenylene-bridged polysilsesquioxanes, and methods of use of dipropylenedisulfide-co-phenylene-bridged polysilsesquioxanes. The present invention discloses properties of dipropylenedisulfide-co-phenylene-bridged polysilsesquioxanes that include high ligand loading, increased surface area, and increased porosity. These properties make dipropylenedisulfide-co-phenylene-bridged polysilsesquioxanes excellent adsorbents for decontamination of fluids for use in environmental and industrial processes.
