  • Patent number: 4548320
Abstract: A heavy-duty plastic molded single-cell beverage case provided with a plurality of columnar support members extending from the upper stacking rim to the bottom of the case for transmitting and withstanding high compressive stacking forces, the support members defined by a ribbed structure. A plurality of horizontal ribs, an upper rectangular panel and triangular gusset plates disposed at the junction of the columnar members and said panel enhance the structual rigidity and strength of the case.

  • Patent number: 4190172
Abstract: An injection molded high impact plastic beverage transport case is disclosed having interior partitions defining individual compartments for receiving beverage containers, said partitions being releasably joined to associated interior portions of the beverage case and removable therefrom to provide an open stowage compartment defined by the outer walls of the case to accommodate the stowage and transport of bulk materials and the like. Outwardly disposed saw-toothed vertical ribs are provided on the outer side walls of the case for frictional gripping by loading and unloading devices. The bottom wall of the case is provided on its outer surface with radial stacking ribs and oriented to provide stacking recesses adapted to receive the tops of bottles stored in a similar case immediately below in a stack of cases.

  • Patent number: 4061280
Abstract: Apparatus for grinding pigment and for introducing predetermined amounts of pigment to plastic material being fed to an injection molding machine. The pigment is ground from bars by a helical grinder energized by variable speed means which controls the ratio of pigment to plastic in the feed to the injection screw. Positive displacement pigment feeding means is included having automatic disengagement means associated with the feeding means for disengaging the latter when the pigment material has become substantially exhausted. The feeding means is chain driven and is adjustable relative to the chain to ensure there is no slack between the feeding means and the pigment bars.

  • Patent number: 4044910
Abstract: A collapsible crate for shipping produce and the like comprising a base portion, two inwardly folding end-wall members and two inwardly folding side-wall members. Each wall member is divided into an upper and lower portion by means of a unitary hinge, wherein the lower portions of the wall members are fixably attached to vertical flanges which extend from the base portion. The vertical edges of the upper portions of the wall members are provided with a plurality of stops and latches which hold the wall members in an upright engaged position when the crate is assembled.

  • Patent number: 4037750
Abstract: A reusable enclosed transport case made up of a pair of complementary interlocking members each having a base, a wall along a first edge of the base and a pair of opposed side walls adjoining that wall is disclosed. During shipping, the two interlocking members are locked together to safely retain and protect the contents of the crate. However, upon delivery, one of the interlocking members is removed to provide a display case which when emptied may be returned along with the other member, to the shipper for reuse. Other features include means to permit ease of stacking of the interlocking members for return to the shipper and means to permit normal and criss-cross palletizing of a plurality of the crates one on top the other.

  • Patent number: 3998328
Abstract: A rectangular full depth case for bottled beverages of unitary molded plastic construction has windows in both side panels and end panels to permit identification of the contents of the case. Interior vertical strengthening ribs extending inwardly from the side panels at spaced intervals run from the bottom of the case to just below an upper stacking rim for supporting the weight of additional cases stacked on top in criss-cross fashion for palletized loading. Strengthening column members of hollow substantially triangular cross section at the junctions of the side panels and the end panels provide both vertical strength and resistance to racking, while presenting a clean design. Criss-cross partitions extend upwardly from the bottom of the case for less than half its height to create separate bottle-receiving compartments.

  • Patent number: 3998327
Abstract: A nestable molded plastic carrying and stacking case having corner supporting plates or slabs mounted on the base and extending inwardly from a bottom circumferential supporting edge. The plates are adapted to nest within a similar lower case when stacked thereon and have bevelled end edges adapted to facilitate lateral sliding removal of the upper case from the lower case. The case also has a top comprised of a pair of complementary hinged lid members, each having a plurality of upwardly projecting circular cups or truncated cones therein adapted to extend above the lid and provide on the upper surface additional supporting surfaces for an upper case, and on the underside stabilizing receptacles for the top portions of bottles or containers stored in the case.

  • Patent number: 3997055
Abstract: A full depth molded transport case for milk cartons having a bottom, three integrally formed upstanding sides, a fourth open side and an open top. An upper stacking rim extends around the top and across the open side of the case, and a lower stacking rim extends around the periphery of the bottom thereof. A removable panel adapted to enclose the open side of the case is disposed therein, and includes means, such as outwardly extending tongue members, adapted for engagement behind the stacking rims of the case, for releasably fastening the removable panel to the case. Removal of the panel permits access to the cartons disposed in the transport case through the open side thereof when a plurality of cases are stacked in a display stand.
