  • Publication number: 20050182891
Abstract: A method to provide information from a first information storage and retrieval system to a second information storage and retrieval system, where the first information storage and retrieval system comprises (N) PPRC adapters and information. The method generates and saves an Established Path Bitmap which recites the (N) PPRC adapters, and generates an Available Path Bitmap. If a PPRC adapter is in communication with the secondary storage system, then the method adds that adapter to the Available Path Bitmap. The primary information storage and retrieval system generates a PPRC task comprising a flag set to “off”. The method copies the Available Path Bitmap as a Working Bitmap, and generates a PPRC request comprising a flag set to “on”, selects one of the adapters recited in the Working Bitmap, and provides the PPRC request to that selected adapter. The method then once attempts to provide information to the second information storage and retrieval system using the selected adapter.

  • Publication number: 20050132252
Abstract: Provided is a method, system and program for synchronizing sequential subtasks of a task, so that the subtasks can be dispatched to generate operations in a particular sequence. In one embodiment, a subtask which has been prepared for dispatching is queued in a queue until the queued subtask is the next subtask in sequence for dispatching. In one embodiment, the subtasks may be sorted in the queue by task and by subtask sequence.

  • Publication number: 20050114857
Abstract: Provided is a method, system and program for managing operation requests using different resources. In one embodiment, a first queue is provided for operations which utilize a first resource of a first and second resource. A second queue is provided for operations which utilize the second resource. An operation is queued on the first queue until the first resource is acquired. The first resource is released if the second resource is not also acquired. The operation is queued on the second queue when the first resource is acquired but the second resource is not. In addition, the first resource is released until the operation acquires both the first resource and the second resource.

The method generates and saves an Established Path Bitmap which recites each of the (N) PPRC adapters, and generates an Available Path Bitmap. If a PPRC adapter is in communication with the secondary information storage and retrieval system, then the method adds that adapter to the Available Path Bitmap. The Established Path Bitmap and the Available Path Bitmap are used for subsequent PPRC operations.

  • Publication number: 20050114286
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are provided for maintaining task prioritization and load balancing of I/O tasks on servers coupled by a plurality of communication channels. The apparatus includes a task controller for maintaining system resources on a failed target channel while resubmitting an unsuccessful task to a different channel. Also, the apparatus includes an upgrade module for upgrading a task prioritization level of a failed I/O task. Additionally, a load module is provided for balancing I/O tasks evenly across the plurality of communication channels according to a prioritization algorithm. The system includes the task controller and a device controller configured to interface with the task controller. The method includes a computer readable medium with computer readable code for selecting a channel, upgrading the prioritization level of a failed task, and maintaining resources on the failed channel while resubmitting the failed I/O task on a different channel.

  • Patent number: 6323293
Abstract: Provided is a process of polymerization wherein the catalyst comprises: A) a catalyst component consisting essentially of titanium, magnesium, halogen, a polycarboxylic ester, and an organic phosphorus compound; B) electron donor described by the formula:  wherein R1 is alkyl or cycloakylgroup containing at least one secondary or tertiary carbon atom, R2 and R3 are each independently alkyl or aryl group, and R4 is an alkyl group having a primary carbon bonded to the silicon atom; and C) organic aluminum compound.

  • Patent number: 5789502
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for control of desired properties in the polymer product. The catalyst system used in the process includes a supported metallocene catalyst precursor in combination with an oxyorganoaluminum. The process can be applied to the co-polymerization of propylene and ethylene. The randomness of the ethylene incorporation of the co-polymer product is increased as the amount of ethylene in the feed is increased. The amount of ethylene in the feed is up to 6 wt. % with a resulting amount of ethylene incorporated into the copolymer product up to 4 mole %.

  • Patent number: 5392203
Abstract: A signal light comprising an elongate translucent tubular member formed of a light plastic material having a light source disposed therein for emitting illumination therefrom and providing guidance and orientation to aircraft and the like. A battery and a light bulb comprising a light source are housed entirely within the tubular member. A flush mounted switch is recessed entirely within a predetermined end of the tubular member to control an electrical connection between the battery and the light source. The signal light has a smooth continuous outer surface to provide structural rigidity and enable its use for visual signalling during both daytime and nighttime.

  • Patent number: 5373306
Abstract: An RF-transparent sunshield membrane covers an antenna reflector such as a parabolic dish. The membrane includes a single dielectric sheet of polyimide film 1 mil thick. The surface of the film facing away from the reflector is coated with a layer of semiconductor material such as vapor-deposited germanium having a thickness in the range of 200 .ANG. to 600 .ANG.. In another embodiment of the invention, the surface of the film facing the reflector may be reinforced by an adhesively attached polyester or glass fiber mesh.

  • Patent number: 4007103
Abstract: A method of planarizing an electrically insulative layer formed over a non-planar integrated circuit substrate having raised portions. After the electrically insulative layers are deposited over such substrate, the layer has elevations corresponding to the underlying raised portions of the substrate. A masking layer is formed on the electrically insulative layer having at least one opening therethrough coincident with an elevation in the insulative layer; this opening has smaller lateral dimensions than the coincident elevation, thereby facilitating alignment. The elevation in the insulative layer exposed in said at least one opening is then etched to the level of the unelevated portion of the layer, and the insulative layer is then resputtered for a period of time sufficient to planarize the remainder of such etched elevation to the level of the unelevated portions.
