  • Publication number: 20100021289
Abstract: The present invention provides a coated article made using a plating process, either electroless or electrolytic, whereby nickel is plated on the article using a solution that includes a suspension of powders or containing one or more of the following elements: Ni, Cr, Al, Zr, Hf, Ti, Ta, Si, Ca, Fe, Y and Ga. Optionally, the coating is then heat treated at a temperature above about 1600.degree. F. for an effective amount of time to allow to homogenize the coating by allowing effective interdiffusion between the species. The level of aluminum may be altered to produce a coating of the predominantly beta phase of the NiAl alloy composition. Optionally, a TBC layer is applied over the predominantly beta phase NiAl alloy composition metallic bond coat.

  • Publication number: 20090198790
Abstract: Network cache systems are used to improve network performance and reduce network traffic. An improved network cache system that uses a centralized shared cache system is disclosed. Each cache device that shares the centralized shared cache system maintains its own catalog, database or metadata index of the content stored on the centralized shared cache system. When one of the cache devices that shares the centralized shared cache system stores a new content resource to the centralized shared cache system, that cache device transmits a broadcast message to all of the peer cache devices. The other cache devices that receive the broadcast message will then update their own local catalog, database or metadata index of the centralized share cache system with the information about the new content resource.

  • Publication number: 20080223291
Abstract: An apparatus for providing a vacuum coating to a workpiece, including: a coating chamber containing a coating material, with the coating chamber being operable at an elevated temperature and a sub-atmospheric pressure; an electron beam gun projecting an electron beam into the coating chamber and onto the coating material, where the electron beam gun is operable to melt the coating material and to evaporate molten coating material; and, a mechanism for supporting manipulating the workpiece in the coating chamber. The supporting mechanism further includes: a coupling device for retaining the workpiece; a joint connected to the coupling device enabling movement of the workpiece in all directions; an intermediate member connecting the coupling device and the joint; and, a device connected to the intermediate member for moving the workpiece in a designated vertical plane.

  • Publication number: 20080085390
Abstract: In one aspect the present invention relates to a method of making an encapsulated electrically energized device, the method comprising: providing a first layer and a second layer each independently comprising a copolyester, providing the electrically energized between the first and second layer, thermocompressively fusing the first layer and the second layer to encapsulate the electrically energized device by applying pressure at a temperature sufficient to form the article, wherein the temperature at an interface between the first and second layers is equal to or greater than Tg of the first layer and the second layer, and wherein the polyester layers have a flow during encapsulation less than the flow that induces fractures in the electrically energized device.

  • Publication number: 20080040187
Abstract: An invention is disclosed for a computerized system for relaying meeting activity in electronic calendar applications, which allows a meeting participant to automatically obtain desired information about activity taking place in a scheduled meeting or presentation to allow that participant to determine whether he or she should attend. The invention also integrates electronic meeting software scheduling and coordination functions to provide a dynamic “schedule enforcement agent” for conducting meetings involving use of electronic data transmission technology (“emeetings”).

  • Patent number: 7283203
Abstract: A reflecting Offner-like optical system is described which is suitable for use in a photolithographic system in which the magnification is approximately 1 to 1, and where the format is flexible. The primary mirror is split into two halves, which are movable with respect to each other. Magnification is slightly changeable by moving the two halves of the split primary mirror forward and backward by slight amounts. The reflecting optical system is moved in a reciprocating manner across a nominally stationary photomask and an intermittently stationary flexible format, which includes a segment of a roll-to-roll web. The arctuate object and image are rotated 90 degrees by flat mirrors to enable efficient scan coverage as the entire mirror system shuttles back and forth across the mask and the web. Center to center distance between the object and the image fields is increased by the use of an aspheric secondary mirror.

  • Patent number: 7244467
Abstract: A process for forming a beta-phase nickel aluminide (NiAl) overlay coating that is suitable for use as a bond coat for a thermal barrier coating (TBC). The overlay coating is deposited by a method that produces a generally columnar grain structure in which grains extend through the coating such that at least some grain boundaries are open at the coating surface. The coating is then peened with a particulate media, followed by heating the overlay coating to a temperature sufficient to cause the overlay coating to recrystallize and form new grain boundaries that are not open to the outer surface of the coating and significantly less susceptible to accelerated oxidation than the original grain boundaries. The particulate media is formed of a composition containing nickel and aluminum, such that an oxide scale that forms on the surface of the coating after the peening operation is substantially free of deleterious oxide compounds, notably iron-containing spinels.
