Patent number: 7001217Abstract: A receptacle assembly includes a guide frame having a front end with an opening to an interior cavity of the guide frame. The front end is configured to receive a module assembly; and an EMI gasket is secured to an edge of the opening. The EMI gasket includes at least one conductive strap extending along a length of the edge, and the conductive strap covers a substantial majority of the edge to form a shielded EMI interface along the edge. A continuous conductive collar is provided on peripheral edges surrounding the opening. The collar is configured to form an uninterrupted and continuous EMI shielding interface with a gasket secured to a bezel. A bail ion the module may be used to cause actuators on the module to move and to press guide frame latches to a release position.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2003Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Tyco Electronics CorporationInventors: Edward John Bright, Brian Patrick Costello, Mai-Loan Thi Tran

Publication number: 20050127516Abstract: The present invention relates to integrated circuits comprising a protective overcoat and thick copper connectors. According to one aspect of the inventions, vias in the protective overcoat are substantially filled with tungsten plugs, or plugs of another metal with a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion. According to another aspect of the invention, large vias in the protective overcoat are replaced with arrays of smaller vias. The invention reduces the likelihood of device failures during temperature cycling tests. Also, the invention allows for smaller vias in the protective overcoat and removal of interconnect functions to the thick copper layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2003Publication date: June 16, 2005Inventors: Betty Mercer, Alec Morton, Byron Williams, Laurinda Ng, C. Patent number: 6681965Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a method of forming a decorative artificial bow using wire border ribbon 22 in strip form either in rolls or otherwise whereby the user may cut the ribbon in lengths according to the bow size required. The length of wire border ribbon 22 is laid out so as to form four loop members 16 on each respective side having opposing distal ends and joined together at the center. The loop members 16 are secured by means of a metal wire retainer 24 securing the center of the folded ribbon, forming the bow. Using a scissor, both distal ends of the ribbon are cut to form a “V” shaped end 26 and the second set of loop members from the bottom portion of the ribbon are also cut to form “V” shaped ends 28. The loop members are rearranged to create a pleasing flower-like design. Using a glue gun 32, a self-adhering tag 36 is fixedly attached to the bottom portion of the bow.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2002Date of Patent: January 27, 2004Inventor: Tuyen Thi Tran

Patent number: 6394819Abstract: The invention is directed to a dielectric member interposed between two electrical components which have different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs). The dielectric member has conductive traces for electrically connecting the electrical components. The traces may be joined by solder balls to a printed circuit board. The dielectric member may include reservoirs for locating the solder balls and receiving solder after reflow of the solder balls. Adhesive layers may be used for bonding the traces to the dielectric member. The dielectric member is made of a material having a selected CTE value which minimizes the CTE mismatch at the electrical interface and effectuates absorption of the thermal expansion and contraction of the system. Stresses induced by thermal expansion and contraction at the electrical interface are thereby reduced, preventing problems such as fractured solder joints.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1998Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Benjamin Howard Mosser, III, Keith McQuilkin Murr, James Paul Scholz, Attalee Snarr Taylor, Mai-Loan Thi Tran

Patent number: 6142798Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cap housing for carrying electrical connectors to be mounted onto solder pads or through-holes on a printed circuit board or other circuitry. The cap housing has a plurality of electrical connector receiving cavities profiled to be relatively complementary in shape and of slightly larger dimension to the exterior profile of the electrical connector received within the cap housing. A floating arrangement of the electrical connector within the cap housing is thereby created which prevents coplanarity problems which contribute to non-filled or partially filled solder joints.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Mai Loan Thi Tran, Richard Allen Kile, Yoji Yoshimura, Ikuo Enomoto
