  • Publication number: 20110025347
Abstract: A cylindrical waveguide (1) used for analyzing a flowing stream of corn masa (18) using a guided microwave spectroscopy (GMS) process. The waveguide (1) includes opposed spaced apart plates (2, 5) that each define a plane within the waveguide housing (3) that is parallel to the direction (47) of corn masa flow through the waveguide. The housing (1) includes two opposed frames (7, 19) that each surround an aperture (6) that permits access to the region between the waveguide plates (2, 5). A microwave probe assembly (81) is mounted at each frame (7, 19) to permit the radiation and reception of electromagnetic waves within the housing (1) as required to perform the GMS process. A temperature probe (51) is inserted into the interior of the housing (1) at a fitting (13). In an actual installation a y-shaped assembly (89) can be used to divide the corn masa flow into two separate paths with one path containing the waveguide (1).

  • Publication number: 20070131008
Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and methodology for providing an improved pick-resistant lock structure. Contact edges associated with individual combination and driver pins are moved away from the true shear lines to deny a lock picker the ability to feel any contact between a selected pin and a pin hole edge. Methodologies and apparatus are also provided to prevent a lock picker from obtaining an impression of the lock shear plane.

  • Publication number: 20050199053
Abstract: The outlet pressure of a pump that fluctuates rapidly, as is typical of high pressure multiplex pumps, is sensed in a pressure line leading from the main flow line to a damping mechanism. The damping mechanism comprises a pair of small spaced openings, which are preferably adjustable in size. The damping mechanism is ideally a pair of needle valves placed in series so the pressure downstream of the second needle valve fluctuates considerably less than upstream of the first needle valve. The damped pressure is sensed to provide an input to real time graphs showing various pertinent pressure measurements involving the application of pressure, e.g. to monitor downhole tools in hydrocarbon wells. The downhole tools may be fluid driven motors, whipstocks, packers, wiper plugs and the like. In the case of fluid driven or mud motors, a base line pressure taken when the motor is idling is compared to the pressure when the motor is drilling to detect the onset of motor stall.

  • Publication number: 20050146080
Abstract: The present invention is a method for making a plastic overcap using a mold tool stack. The mold tool stack has a core and a cavity plate forming a cavity therebetween. The core has a resin passageway therein with a gate in a top surface of the core. The gate has a valve proximate the top surface of the core to regulate resin flowing from the resin passageway and into the cavity. The steps of the mold method are as follows: the mold tool stack is closed to form the cavity; the valve is opened to allow resin to enter the cavity; the valve is closed; the resin is allowed to cool; and the mold tool stack is opened to allow removal of the plastic overcap from within the mold tool stack. The top side of the plastic overcap produced is blemish-free, facilitating placement of labels and other markings thereon.

  • Publication number: 20050048873
Abstract: A method and apparatus for milling a desired pocket in a solid workpiece uses an abrasive fluid-jet by moving and suitably orienting the abrasive fluid-jet relative to the workpiece. The method includes defining a path of the abrasive fluid-jet necessary to mill a desired pocket in the solid workpiece. The path is defined by a number of parameters. The parameters include a translation velocity, a fluid pressure, and an abrasive fluid-jet position and orientation relative to the workpiece. Generating a command set is according to the defined path and is configured to drive a computer numerical control manipulator system.

  • Patent number: 4525675
Abstract: Signals to be discriminated are supplied through a controllable attenuator and power splitter to first and second discriminators with response slopes which are equal and of opposite sign. The outputs of the discriminators are summed and a reference signal is subtracted from the sum to produce a control signal which adjusts the input attenuator to maintain the amplitude of the input signal constant. The outputs of the discriminators are also subtracted to provide an output signal which is a linear function of frequency and independent of input amplitude.
