  • Publication number: 20120001015
Abstract: By sharing tasks between the CV and the KVs, the MKV interceptor provides a cost-effective missile defense system capable of intercepting and killing multiple targets. The placement of the acquisition and discrimination sensor and control sensor on the CV to provide target acquisition and discrimination and mid-course guidance for all the KVs avoids the weight and complexity issues associated with trying to “miniaturize” unitary interceptors. The placement of either a short-band imaging sensor and headlamp or a MWIR sensor on each KV overcomes the latency, resolution and bandwidth problems associated with command guidance systems and allows each KV to precisely select a desirable aimpoint and maintain track on that aimpoint to impact.

  • Patent number: 7152554
Abstract: A pet transporter that can be towed behind a wheeled vehicle is disclosed. The pet transporter comprises a carrier member, a frame adapted to receive the carrier member, a pair of side bows attached to the side walls of the carrier and to the frame, a pair of wheel assemblies attached to the frame on opposite sides of the carrier, and an attachment arm with a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is adapted to be attached to the frame proximate the front wall of the carrier and the second end is adapted to releasably attach to a rear axle of a wheeled vehicle. The pet transporter has a low center of gravity, making tipping of the pet transporter more difficult. In addition, few tools are required to assemble and disassemble the pet transporter.

  • Publication number: 20050111129
Abstract: A write driver for use with a magnetic recording head includes a photoconductive switch that is positioned adjacent a magnetic recording head for switching current waveforms. Both light and a DC voltage are applied to the photoconductive switch to switch the applied current waveforms. The write driver further includes means for writing to a storage medium in response to current waveforms switched by the photoconductive switch. The write driver may also include a suspension that supports at least one photoconductive switch, DC conductors for supplying a DC voltage, means for supplying light, and recording head means for writing to a storage medium.

  • Patent number: 5117885
Abstract: A caster wheel consisting of a pair of one-piece hub portions adapted to be releasably secured together to support a polyurethane tire and permit replacement thereof. The inner portion of the tire is trapped in a cavity which permits the tire to expand, or flow, axially under load bearing conditions. The tire's side walls are supported by a pair of outwardly divergently disposed support surfaces which substantially engage the entire length of the side walls to form a solid radial column of tire support and incorporate radial projections to prohibit relative rotation between the tire and the hub portions.

  • Patent number: 4867207
Abstract: The invention features a universal harness board for wiring harnesses of different configurations. The board is of box-like construction. A plurality of pins are disposed inside the board. The pins are spring biased to extend above the work surface of the board. Each pin has a locking mechanism to hold it in a retracted position until a plunger is depressed to release it to its extended position. The release of certain ones of the pins will provide the desired wiring pattern.

  • Patent number: 4655650
Abstract: The invention pertains to a self-cleaning high speed core boring tool for enlarging an existing deep hole. The elongated tool includes a shank held within a rotating tool holder, a central portion upon which cutting elements are mounted in diametrically located relationship, and the forward end of the tool comprises a cylindrical extension having a pair of spiral flutes defined therein each of which communicates with a cutting element for receiving chips. The flutes spiral in a direction opposite to the direction of tool rotation during boring whereby chips received within the flutes are displaced forwardly of the cutting elements to keep the cutting area free of chips.

  • Patent number: 4013808
Abstract: A caster utilizing mounting structure, leg structure rotatably mounted on the mounting structure, and a wheel rotatably mounted upon the legs wherein the relatively movable parts of the caster are sealed against the entrance of foreign matter by means of a resilient synthetic material cover. In the method of constructing a caster in accord with the invention components thereof are coated with the coating material, such as by dipping, and the coating material, after curing, is severed at the desired locations to form sealing edges between relatively movable components. In a preferred method of forming the caster, mandrels having a configuration similar to the final caster components may be employed, however, it is within the scope of the invention to use the caster components themselves for molding purposes wherein the sealing material is later severed at the desired locations.
