  • Publication number: 20050100016
Abstract: The benefits of a multicast-enabled network are realized by a flexible, easy to deploy, software-based solution that does not require reconfiguring of network routers. Systems and methods that implement this solution can perform as follows. A packet is received that was sent by a sender to at least one receiver, and the packet includes a parameter relating to a multicast announce address. A forwarding rules set is associated with the packet if the parameter has a defined value. This forwarding rules set is used to determine whether any of the at least one destination addresses included in the packet corresponds to one of the receivers that has a receiver format that must be converted. In addition, the forwarding rules set defines when a packet should be converted from a sender format to a receiver format before forwarding the packet.

  • Publication number: 20040038232
Abstract: The present invention relates to promoters, enhancers and other regulatory elements that direct expression within tumor cells, comprising nucleotide sequences from the 5′ regulatory region, and transcriptionally active fragments thereof, that control expression of a renal cell carcinoma related protein, MN-CA9. Specifically provided are expression vectors, host cells and transgenic animals wherein an MN-CA9 regulatory region is capable of controlling expression of a heterologous gene, over-expressing an endogenous gene or an inhibitor of a pathological process or knocking out expression of a specific gene believed to be important in cancer development and/or progression. • Publication number: 20010038834
Abstract: Homing bone marrow cells deposited at ATTC CRL-12424 can be transfected with a toxic gene which expresses a compound which alone, or in the company of a triggering agent, kills neighboring cancer cells in the bone marrow of a patient receiving the therapy. Toxic genes include cytotoxin such as thymidine kinase, immune stimulating compounds such as interleuken-2 and radiation repair inhibitors, such as Ku protein. The transfected cells can be administered directly to the site of the tumor or systemically, or regionally, intramedullary (into the marrow) through intravascular administration. The latter alternative permits the delivery of very high doses of the effective agent.

  • Patent number: 5558755
Abstract: Apparatus and method for removing contaminants from an aqueous medium. The apparatus includes a fluidized bed of metallic particles through which the medium is flowed and through which an electric current is applied by electrodes for agglomerating contaminants in the medium. In order to allow the electrodes to be non-consumable so that they do not require frequent replacement, the particles are consumable.

  • Patent number: 4878525
Abstract: In combination with vehicle wheels a means for performing reduction of effective vehicle bearing weight thereby mitigating rolling resistance thereof enhancing energy efficiency. Attachment to be radially fixed on and around a vehicle wheel and configured to extend beyond the periphery of the wheel in a prolapse condition not common to wheel art. The attachment shall be displaceable and capable of energy storage and release sequaciously.Operation shall be via the nutation of the extended attachment with each nutating cycle bifurcated by the vehicle bearing weight area thereof allowing the bearing weight to be transferred to the displaceable attachments dynamically. The effective bearing weight of the vehicle is reduced and thereof deformations to the vehicle wheel and roadway are mitigated. Reduction of the deformations mitigate nonproductive energy transfer from the vehicle wheel and roadway structure.

  • Patent number: 3930600
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for injection molding of materials such, for example, as thermoplastic resinous material, utilizing a rotatable and reciprocal screw extruder for plasticizing and injecting the material into a mold cavity, and wherein an injection piston in a cylinder is operatively connected to the plasticizing screw to push the screw forward to effect injection into a mold of plasticized material in front of the screw. A supply of fluid pressure is positively applied to the injection piston to provide a back pressure to act against the reaction caused by the rotation of the plasticizing screw, and this back pressure may be regulated to correspond with the rearward displacement, of the screw.
