  • Publication number: 20090204594
Abstract: A recommendation system exploits a repository of mashups to provide design-time assistance to the user through relevant suggestions as to what outputs can be generated along with the best plans to generate those outputs. An output ranker ranks the outputs of the system base on their popularity scores, and a planner uses metric planning algorithms and a configurable utility function. The system takes into account popularity and semantic similarity when recommending services and sources.

  • Publication number: 20080209507
Abstract: An authorization engine is provided in a remote device for mobile authorization using policy based access control. To ensure that remote devices can enforce consistent authorization policies even when the devices are not connected to the server, the remote device downloads the relevant authorization policies when the business objects are downloaded and enforces the policies when operations are invoked. The memory footprint of downloadable authorization policies is reduced to fit onto a resource-constrained remote device. A policy evaluation engine interprets and enforces the downloaded policies on the remote device using only the limited computational resources of the remote device.

  • Publication number: 20080033888
Abstract: An Enterprise Management Portfolio Hub allows a user to perform enterprise portfolio management activities from a single point of control. EPMH relates information, analysis, display and control based on the organizing concept of the business components that comprise the CBM map of the enterprise by collecting portfolio information from existing portfolio management tools and generating a portfolio model. It allows the user to interact with or access information from various Portfolio Management applications and services through the portfolio model. EPMH supports evaluative techniques that can be used to identify areas for business transformation and to generate transition plans.

  • Patent number: 7254589
Abstract: Standardized support for management of contextual relationships, which includes specification of the context hierarchy, association of relationships with a particular context, and derivation of transitive dependencies, is provided with a Context Manager service. The Context Manager provides a programmatic interface for defining contexts and the relationships therein. The Context Manager saves the relationship facts in one or more context stores, which are organized by contexts. The Context Manager interfaces with the Ontology Manager that processes queries on relationships with respect to a given set of contexts. The Context Manager provides a high-level abstraction for relationship management in a context. Developers of business solutions can then focus on the core business logic, without worrying about the details of storing and inferencing relationships.

  • Patent number: 7216125
Abstract: An automated technique implemented in a computer system for selecting one or more resources on which a principal is authorized to perform at least one action comprises the following steps/operations. First, one or more authorization policies that apply to a given principal are selected. Then, the one or more authorization policies are transformed based on meta-information associated with the one or more resources so as to form a query against a resource store that selects the one or more resources on which the one or more authorization policies allow the given principal to perform the at least one action. The query may then be executed to select the one or more resources from the resource store. In another automated technique, the query may be formed without use of the one or more authorization policies, but where the policies are used to remove unauthorized resources from the superset of resources returned as a result of query execution.

  • Publication number: 20070100195
Abstract: An apparatus for enhancing tissue repair in mammals comprising a sleeve for encircling a portion of a mammalian body part and having an electrically conductive coil, means for supporting the sleeve on the mammalian body part; and means for supplying the electrically conductive coil with a square wave time varying electrical current sufficient to create a time varying electromagnetic force of from approximately 0.05 gauss to 0.5 gauss within the interior of the coil. When in use, the sleeve of the apparatus is placed on a mammalian body part and the time varying electromagnetic force of from approximately 0.05 gauss to 0.5 gauss is generated on the mammalian body for an extended period of time, and tissue is regenerated in the mammalian body part at a rate in excess of the normal tissue regeneration rate without application of the time varying electromagnetic force.

  • Publication number: 20060129477
Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for trading financial products over a computer network, such as the Internet. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method for trading financial products over a computer network. Seller information is received from a first client, the seller information relating to a financial product offered for sale on behalf of a seller, at least some of the seller information comprising due diligence information, the due diligence information capable of fulfilling at least a portion of a request for due diligence on the financial product. The seller information about the financial product is stored in a database. A second client is provided with an opportunity to obtain the due diligence information on behalf of a potential buyer of the financial product. A bid is stored for the financial product from the second client in the database, if it can be shown that second client has obtained the due diligence information.

  • Publication number: 20050064443
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for production of functional proteins including hormones by renal cells in a three dimensional co-culture process responsive to shear stress using a rotating wall vessel. Natural mixture of renal cells expresses the enzyme 1-a-hydroxylase which can be used to generate the active form of vitamin D: 1,25-diOH vitamin D3. The fibroblast cultures and co-culture of renal cortical cells express the gene for erythropoietin and secrete erythropoietin into the culture supernatant. Other shear stress response genes are also modulated by shear stress, such as toxin receptors megalin and cubulin (gp280). Also provided is a method of treating in-need individual with the functional proteins produced in a three dimensional co-culture process responsive to shear stress using a rotating wall vessel.

  • Patent number: 6669770
Abstract: A sand casting facing composition comprises a dry mixture of about 77% fine sand, 5% binder, 6% green system sand and 12% burned system sand. The fine sand is mulled with 5.8% wt/wt oil per total dry mixture and catalyst at about 0.5% wt/wt. Preferably, fine sand and binder are mulled with oil, catalyst, green system sand and screened burned system. The mulled mixture is rested, mulled again and rested again before use as facing sand for achieving accurate reproduction of the pattern's fine detail. A method of preparing the mold and preserving fine detail comprises riddling the pattern with a thin layer of the facing sand composition, compacting, riddling with dry system sand and riddling with system sand before compacting about the periphery of the pattern. Final layers of system sand are applied and compacted over the entire pattern.

  • Publication number: 20030050820
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for maintaining membership lists associated with given states of a state machine. The present invention uses a state machine to represent a business process. The state machine includes a plurality of states, and at least one state includes an entry action that is executed upon entering the state. A user group list can be accessed and processed using the entry action. When an object enters a state, the corresponding entry action may be executed. The entry action will obtain the membership group name from the corresponding state definition. If the field is not null, then the business process manager queries the membership subsystem to obtain a list of individuals who belong to that membership group name for the organization which owns the object. Only those users are notified that the object is awaiting approval and are therefore designated as the preferred approvers for this object.
