  • Publication number: 20070083812
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for controlling the operation of mnemonics so that mnemonics that are not in the user's notion of the active context (i.e., mnemonics that are not in the active pane in which the user is currently working) are blocked from operation. When an attempt is made to invoke a mnemonic, a determination is made as to whether or not the requested mnemonic is located within an inactive pane in the GUI. If the requested mnemonic is within an inactive pane, then the mnemonic request is blocked. If the requested mnemonic is somewhere other than in an inactive pane, then the attempt to invoke the mnemonic is allowed to succeed. The above-described control operations “follow” the active pane, so that if a user switches the active pane, these control functions operate in the newly-designated active pane.

  • Publication number: 20050212818
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a data processing system for determining an edge for inversion in a cyclic compound directed graph. A plurality of graph nodes of a graph are evaluated for generation of a first node order subset pair. A determination that the graph requires a recursive evaluation for completing node ordering of the plurality of graph nodes is made. The graph is divided into a plurality of graph partitions, and respective node order subset pairs are generated for the graph partitions.

  • Patent number: 6941013
Abstract: Method of image binarization using histogram modeling, which combines spatial resolution expansion with binarization in a single integrated process using a combination of spatial expansion, histogram modeling, classification, and quantization. Each pixel of the input image is expanded into a higher resolution image, and a count of the number of times each distinct gray scale intensity value occurs in the input image is calculated from pixel values of the input image and then modeled with an approximate histogram that is computed as the sum of weighted modeling functions. The input pixel values are then classified using the modeling functions and the results of the pixel classification are used to quantize the high resolution gray scale image to create a binary output image.

  • Publication number: 20050039108
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for fast tag entry in a multimodal markup language document editor. A multimodal markup language document editor which has been configured for fast tag entry can include multiple views, the views including at least one source view and at least one WYSIWYG view. A fast tag entry processor can be coupled both to the WYSIWYG view and the source view. The processor can be configured to create a buffer such as a pop-up source window over the WYSIWYG view through which a tag definition can be textually specified without requiring a context switch to the source view. The processor further can be configured to insert the textually specified tag definition in a markup language document in the editor. Finally, the processor can be configured to cause the WYSIWYG view to re-render a representation of the markup language document to reflect the textually specified tag definition.

  • Publication number: 20040053950
Abstract: Malaria is the most severe tropical parasitic disease that has caused millions of deaths in many countries. The threat of growing drug-resistant parasites requires development of new antimalarial drugs to overcome the emergence of resistance and to control the disease. Febrifugine is the active principle extracted from the Chinese herb Chang Shan (Dichroa febrifuga Lour) that has been used to treat malaria for more than two thousand years. Studies on the efficacy have been hindered due to the emetic effects of febrifugine. The present invention discloses febrifugine, halofuginone and febrifugine derivatives for use as antimalarial agents without the severe emetic effects observed in direct herbal use.
