  • Patent number: 11509656
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is provided for customization of a mobile communications device's data session retry mechanism in a wireless packet data service network. The mobile communication device requests activation of a data session with a node via the wireless network and receives a reject message via the wireless network in response to the request for activation of the data session, the reject message including a cause code. If the cause code corresponds to a no-retry behavior of the data session retry mechanism of the mobile communication device, the mobile communications device no longer requesting activation of a data session with the node.

  • Publication number: 20220360085
Abstract: A utility-scale energy storage and conversion system can operate two or more inverter groups such that their reactive power commands are proportional to their available reactive power range. The control system can therefore distribute the reactive power commands in proportion to the available Q range, thereby ensuring that all inverters in the utility-scale energy storage and conversion system 100 operate with the same Q “headroom”. In addition, the utility-scale energy storage and conversion system can use an on-load tap changer (LTC) to adjust a terminal voltage associated with a first group of inverters and a second group of inverters. The first group of inverters can be associated with a first rating and the second group of inverters can be associated with a second rating that is greater than the first rating.

  • Publication number: 20220220692
Abstract: Various embodiments of a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall that employ, for reinforcement, round rods with spaced pullout inhibiting structures (for example, round planar disks) are disclosed. The MSE retaining wall has at least one concrete panel. The panel has a generally planar body with a frontside, a backside, and a surrounding peripheral edge. The MSE retaining wall has at least one round, steel rod, the rod having a generally cylindrical elongated body with first and second ends. The first end is attached to the panel, and the elongated body and second end reside within backfill soil against the backside of the panel. The MSE retaining wall further includes at least one steel, pullout inhibiting structure residing along the elongated body of the rod. The pullout inhibiting structure has a body with a surface region that spans in a transverse radial direction from the elongated body of the rod. The rod passes through the body of the pullout inhibiting structure.

  • Publication number: 20220220691
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall that employ, for reinforcement, a geosynthetic strip that attaches to the MSE retaining wall and extends into the backfill soil. In one embodiment, the MSE retaining wall has at least one concrete panel. The panel has a cavity extending from the backside into the body for receiving a flexible, generally flat, geosynthetic strip. The panel has a plastic pipe (or first cylindrical body) that is situated within the body of the panel in a position so that the plastic pipe is generally horizontal from a front elevation view vantage point of the panel and is generally parallel with the backside of the panel from a top view vantage point of the panel. The plastic pipe extends through the cavity and its ends reside within the concrete panel. The MSE retaining wall further includes a steel rod situated inside of the plastic pipe.

  • Publication number: 20210014952
Abstract: A calibration and daylighting control system provides a predetermined lighting level at a work surface. The system preferably includes a light sensor and a load control device for controlling a connected lighting element to provide light to the associated area and a work surface located therein. A wireless transceiver can provide wireless communication with a portable remote device such as a smart phone. A processor can be coupled to the light sensor, load control device and transceiver. The processor may be programmed to receive, via the transceiver, wireless signals from the portable remote device when the remote device is positioned on the work surface, and set a daylighting level of the light sensor based on the wireless signals. The wireless signals can be indicative that the daylighting level of the light sensor corresponds within a predetermined amount to the user-selected lighting level at the work surface.
