  • Patent number: 10215300
Abstract: A bending frame extends the travel of an actuator for a mechanically actuated component. The bending frame includes a plurality of bendable longitudinal struts, which are arranged about a longitudinal axis on which the travel of the actuator runs. The longitudinal struts each extend in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and an application of force enacted by the actuator long the actuation path on the longitudinal struts causes same to bend in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Respective cross struts extend out toward the longitudinal axis from each of the longitudinal struts, wherein a first end of a respective cross strut is articulated to a respective longitudinal strut and a second end of the respective cross strut opposite to the first end is provided in order to transmit force to the component in the direction of the longitudinal axis for the purpose of actuation thereof.

  • Publication number: 20180265909
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and instruments for the rapid detection and rapid mass spectrometric identification of microbial infective agents in blood or other body fluids. The invention recognizes that blood is not a good environment for the cultivation of microbes and provides a method which (a) largely destroys or dissolves the human particles in body fluids, such as erythrocytes and leukocytes in blood, without impairing the ability of the microbes to reproduce, (b) separates the microbial pathogens from the fluid, (c) cultivates them in a nutrient broth which contains none of the antimicrobial components of the body fluids, (d) separates them from the nutrient broth, and (e) identifies the microbes by a mass spectrum of the microbial proteins. The dissolution of the human particles also releases the microbes nesting in macrophages.

  • Patent number: 9989039
Abstract: A valve arrangement for an aerospace component includes an inlet, an outlet, and an actuator that can be actuated by a heating element. In a non-actuated state of the actuator, the valve is open to allow flow between the inlet and the outlet. The actuator is a single-use effect shape memory actuator that is compressed in the martensitic state along a longitudinal axis of the actuator and integrated into the valve arrangement. Through the activation of the heating element upon reaching a predetermined transformation temperature, the actuator undergoes a change in length, whereby it is gradually pressed against a seal seat that is embodied at the inlet or the outlet.

  • Patent number: 9974557
Abstract: Methods, systems and tools are provided for controllable adjustment of a removal rate of cutting edges of rapidly rotating effectors of manually-guided material- and tissue-separating tools without significantly changing the rotation speed of the effectors or the position, orientation or the geometry of the effectors, and in particular, for precisely maintaining work space boundaries during material and tissue removal with effectors in rapidly rotating machine tools in surgery and freehand manufacturing to produce free-form surfaces. The manually-guided material-separating and tissue-separating tools and effectors allow controllable adjustment of the removal rate of the material-separating cutting edges of the effector by mechanically adjusting a position or orientation of at least one cutting edge cover at a constant rotation speed of the effector without appreciable change of the removal movement.
