    Abstract: An valve prosthesis, such as an artificial venous valve, having a support frame and leaf structure comprising one or more leaflets in which the outer edge of each leaflet engages the inner circumference of the bodily passageway along a serpentine path urged against the passageway by an expandable frame, while the inner edges move in response to fluid to restrict retrograde flow. Optionally, one or more elements can extend from the support frame/leaf structure to provide centering support and/or protection from the leaflet adhering to the vessel wall. In one embodiment, the centering support structure comprises a second or third expandable frames attached to and extending from the proximal and/or distal ends of main valve structure and support frame. In another embodiment, one or more support elements extend outward from the valve support frame to engage the vessel wall to provide greater longitudinal stability.

    Abstract: A wire guide includes a mandrel that has a proximal portion and a distal portion. A first coating with a low coefficient of friction is disposed on the proximal portion of the mandrel. A second coating is disposed on the distal portion of the mandrel, where the second coating provides a sub-structure. A third coating is disposed on the second coating, where the third coating comprises a surface that allows for easy maneuverability of the wire guide. The first coating on the proximal portion provides enough lubricity to keep the wire guide from becoming bound or stuck in a catheter or medical device while still allowing a user to have a good grip of the wire guide. The second coating on the distal portion provides lubricity for the wire guide, which allows the user to easily maneuver the wire guide through a vascular anatomy.

    Abstract: A composite prosthesis (19, 99, 199) and method are disclosed herein. This endoluminal prosthesis is constructed by separately deploying a first prosthesis (9, 201) and a second prosthesis (14, 208), wherein the first prosthesis is deployed and secured to the interior surface of a body lumen (260). In a subsequent step, the second prosthesis is deployed substantially within and secured to the first prosthesis. Although additional prostheses may be deployed within the second prosthesis, in a preferred configuration the first and second prostheses combine to provide all of the necessary attributes associated with a functioning endoluminal prosthesis. Thus, one of the first and second prostheses is permeable to blood and exerts sufficient radial force to cause the composite prosthesis to securely engage an interior surface of the body lumen at one or both of the composite prosthesis's proximal and distal ends, while the other of the first and second prostheses is impermeable to blood flow.
