  • Patent number: 9292906
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable media for two-dimensional image processing based on third dimension data are described. Some implementations can include a method comprising obtaining first image data having a plurality of pixel values and obtaining second image data corresponding to each pixel value in the first image data. The method can also include receiving an indication of one or more control points in the first image data. The method can further include selectively filtering the first image data based on a distance from the control point and on one or more data values in the second image data corresponding to the corresponding control point. The method can also include outputting the selectively filtered first image data.

  • Patent number: 9236694
Abstract: A coaxial connector system comprises a coaxial plug connector and socket connector. The coaxial connectors have a center conductor defining a center axis of the connector and an outer conductor coaxial to the center conductor. The plug connector's outer conductor has a cylindrical shape with slits forming a plurality of spring loaded contact elements, while the socket connector's outer conductor is a cylindrical shape forming a contact surface. Furthermore, the connectors have a mechanical contact surface at a right angle to their center axis and distant from the spring loaded contact elements and the contact surface. Cylindrically precision centering means are provided at the connectors, which fit into each other and precisely align the center axis of the connectors resulting in reduced passive intermodulation. This design allows for further reducing contact gaps between the outer and inner conductors to further improve return loss at high frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20150246865
Abstract: A process is described wherein a feed of a six-carbon carbohydrate-containing material or of a furanic dehydration product from a six-carbon carbohydrate-containing material or of a combination of these is supplied to a reactor in a controlled manner over time, and the feed is acid-hydrolyzed to produce levulinic acid. In certain embodiments, derivatives of the levulinic acid are prepared.

  • Publication number: 20150135531
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the material-removing processing of an adjustable camshaft which has a shaft body, wherein at least a first component of the camshaft can move axially and/or in the circumferential direction with respect to the shaft body, wherein a gap which permits the movement is provided between the shaft body and the first component, and wherein in order to protect the first moveable component during the material-removing processing a protection apparatus which has at least one fluid duct is placed on the shaft body and fluid is applied to it. According to the invention, the protection apparatus is arranged laterally with respect to the first moveable component in such a way that at least some of the fluid is directed laterally onto the first component and into an intermediate space between the protection apparatus and the first component, and wherein the first component is exposed in the radial direction.

  • Publication number: 20150051385
Abstract: A process for production of C5 and C6 sugar enriched syrups from lignocellulosic biomass and fermentation products therefrom is described. A lignocellulosic biomass is treated with acetic acid with washing thereof with a C1-C2 acid-miscible organic solvent, (e.g., ethyl acetate). A soluble hemicellulose and lignin enriched fraction is obtained separately from a cellulose pulp enriched fraction and lignin is removed from the soluble hemicellulose fraction. The soluble hemicellulose and lignin enriched fraction is subjected to liquid/liquid separation to obtain an aqueous phase enriched in C5 sugars and C6 sugars and reduced in content of acetic acid. The syrup is suitable for fermentation. The process also produces fractions of organic-insoluble lignin, organic-soluble lignin, and acetate salts.

These fractions contain acylated (e.g., acetylated) cellulose and hemicellulose, which are deacylated by treatment with an alkali and/or with an acetyl esterase enzyme. The deacylated fractions are then digested with suitable cellulolytic and/or hemicellulolytic enzymes, preferably in the presence of non-ionic detergent to yield the C5 and C6 enriched syrups.

  • Publication number: 20140315262
Abstract: Hydroxymethylfurfural is made from an aqueous hexose sugar solution, especially from a high fructose corn syrup product. By rapidly heating the sugar solution to the elevated temperatures involved as well as rapidly cooling the resultant product mixture, a limited per-pass conversion to HMF is obtained; correspondingly, however, the overall exposure of the HMF that is formed to acidic, elevated temperature conditions is also limited, so that byproducts are reduced. Separation and recovery of the products is simplified, and levels of HMF and other hexose dehydration products known to inhibit ethanol production by fermentation are reduced in the residual sugars product, to an extent whereby the residual sugars product is suited to be directly fermented to ethanol or for other uses.
