  • Publication number: 20160130985
Abstract: A heat capturing module for obtaining useful energy from waste heat includes an extendable hood directing hot gas through a heat exchange assembly having a plurality of heat pipes. A closed flow loop directs a heat transfer medium through the heat exchange assembly to heat the heat transfer medium, and directs the heated medium for use by an application. In one embodiment, the closed flow loop directs the heat transfer medium through an organic Rankine cycle unit where heat is converted to electrical power. An exhaust system having a variable-speed induction fan induces flow of the hot gas through the heat exchange assembly. The speed of the induction fan may be controlled to maintain a setpoint temperature of the heat transfer medium. The hood may be extended and retracted based on a measured temperature of gas at an intake region of the hood. The module is transportable by truck trailer.

  • Publication number: 20150149199
Abstract: A method for supplying a prescribed medication to a patient. A medication prescription order and information on a patient is sent by an authorized person in a medical office to a PPC for verification of insurance and billing information. Alternatively, the information may be sent to a PDU in the medical office. Upon verification of the insurance and billing information, the PPC or PDU sends an access code to an authorized person in the medical office. Upon receipt of the access code, the authorized person enters it in the PDU to obtain a temporary supply of the prescribed medication for the patient. The PDU sends an order for the prescribed medication to the PPC. The PPC fills the order and ships the prescribed medication to a patient's location to arrive before the patient has used all of the temporary supply of the prescribed medication.

  • Patent number: 8880874
Abstract: In a method of biometric identity assurance, biometric data based on a biometric modality is stored in a memory of a first computer. The biometric data is converted into a biometric template which is transferred from the first computer memory to a memory of a second computer. The second computer determines an encryption key based on a combination of the biometric template with a biometric-hash file of the user. Multiple credential files previously distributed among multiple remote computers are assembled into a single user credential file at the second computer. The first computer receives the encryption key and the user credential file from the second computer and accesses user credentials stored in the user credential file based on decryption of the user credential file using the encryption key. Via the thus accessed user credentials, the first computer uses or accesses one or more digital resources of the user.

  • Publication number: 20130018466
Abstract: An interbody spacer includes an elongated body with a maximum width between opposite side walls and a maximum height between upper and lower bearing surfaces. The interbody spacer also includes a leading end nose connecting the side walls to facilitate insertion of the interbody spacer into a disc space between vertebrae in an insertion orientation, from which the interbody device is then rotated to position the upper and lower bearing surfaces in contact with the endplates of the adjacent vertebrae. The leading end nose forms a blunt convex nose between the upper and lower bearing surfaces to maximize the bearing surface area available to contact the adjacent endplates.
